Outreach is the sales development platform our organization uses for the outsourced outbound lead generation services we provide our clients. We use it to schedule/send cold emails, place and record cold calls, manage tasks, CRM, and for insights to optimize campaigns.
  • Outbound sales task flow management
  • Cold email personalization at scale
  • Streamlining sales processes
Cons
  • Email warm up services
  • Team collaboration
Outreach is a tremendous tool to keep sales reps organized and on task. It makes the process of outbound sales as frictionless as possible so reps spend more time selling and less time on admin tasks. Whether you have a large sales team or even one rep, Outreach is a valuable tool to maximize productivity.
  • Sequence/task management
  • CRM
  • Call recording
  • 4-5x increase in productivity
  • SalesLoft, Playbooks and from XANT (formerly InsideSales.com)
Although all seem to have similar features these days, I found Outreach's UI/UX better than the others.
DiscoverOrg (discontinued), Winmo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Microsoft Teams, QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Time (formerly TSheets)

We have 3 sales reps that use Outreach.
We have no in-house manager of the Outreach product other than myself.
  • Cold email
  • Cold calling
  • CRM
  • Although not perfect, we're able to use Outreach for managing our pipeline reports
  • Again not perfect, but we use Outreach for our CRM

I like Outreach, but I do wonder about new competitors that are 25-50% less expensive.

We were looking for best of breed and Outreach has a good reputation and all the features we require.
I would evaluate some of the new emerging sales dev platforms.

Multiple phases were used to help implement.
Change management was minimal
We were a new company so there was no change management required.
  • We have a unique use case since we're an outbound agency working with multiple accounts, so we required special set up
Although we required a special setup, the process was quick. But we paid a lot for the implementation and didn't use 33% of the hours we purchased.
Overall I am pleased, but there are times I wish they were even more responsive since time is money in sales.
I have not purchased premium support, nor was I aware than it existed.
No
We had an issue where we registered the wrong email address to one of our users, which seems like an easy fix. But it required Outreach tech support who replied promptly and walked us through the steps to resolve.
I find Outreach's interface easy to understand. Between Outreach's training university and our internal training, our reps are ramped up within a week.
  • Scheduling emails
  • Call recording
  • Analytics

Outreach

We use Outreach as the main platform for our Sales Development Reps. At least 90% of the company is exclusively in Outreach and the only ones that remain in Salesforce are those that are full cycle sales execs or there are client requirements. It solves a lot of business issues, among them are the issues with reps wasting time sending emails, researching, planning out their day, losing prospects to the funnel due to poor follow up, email tracking, A/B testing etc. The list goes on and on.
  • Automating emails and using mail merge field to make custom emails
  • A/B Testing
  • Saving time by providing all the necessary data in one spot
  • Process Automation
Cons
  • Integration with Salesforce on the Account level could use some refinement
  • The Dialer is not the best but it isn't required.
Outreach is amazing for the SDR role in my experience and it needs an additional CRM at the moment if you work as an Account Exec handling the prospect to the close. It should not be used as a marketing automation alternative.
If you have someone managing the backend and have proper training with Outreach, then it is an AMAZING platform. The CSMs are great for getting for getting you started and the online resources and training has greatly improved in the past few months. There is a bit of a learning curve but learning the platform is definitely worth the payoff in the end.
We use call and email reports, have smart views built for more detailed reporting (title, industry, etc). There are also heat maps for the best call and email times that comes in handy if you want to plan your day by the hour. The reports that we can create in Outreach meet our needs at the moment. The only suggestion I have for the user is to make sure that the data you want to report exists in Outreach. Sounds like common sense, I know, but you would be surprised at how often I come across an inquiry that requests information or reports that don't exist because the data is imaginary. Also, learn how to use Smart Views to save reports that matter.
  • Freed up time for Reps
  • Reviews with Clients go smoother with the reporting (easier and more reliable reports within the system)
  • Decreased tech spend by removing users from Salesforce that only needed Outreach
The customer success team has been second to none. I've personally worked with two, Nick and Colette and they have always been there if I had questions and they assisted with training, adoption, implementation, troubleshooting, letting me know what is coming next, etc. They have helped me take our adoption of Outreach as a company to another level and reduce our dependence on other technology.
It may sound like an odd comparison but for our business case, Outreach was all we needed. It was easier to use than Salesforce, they work with us on implementation and paid attention to our needs. Salesforce wasn't as necessary when the majority of our sales team serves the SDR role. We were using this huge CRM program and using just a tiny sliver and Outreach did that better.

Our Sales Development Representatives live in Outreach. We have a few people in our company serving an AE role for some of our clients that also use Outreach but they mix it with Salesforce to complete the sales cycle. Internally, our business development team use Outreach. The CSMs use Outreach for client calls to share reporting and our Sales Managers also use it for coaching reps.

In order to have a successful in-house support team, you need to have people who have worked in the system as end users to understand the process and workflow. To reach its fullest potential, I would recommend having at least one dedicated person to handle system administration and having folks monitor campaign results based on opens, clicks, and replies and have guidelines in place when introducing new content. You need to have people that have an impeccable attention to detail and like to discover new ways to creatively use the system.
  • Sales Development
  • Email automation
  • Prospect engagement and follow up
  • It became the primary system for the SDR function
  • Triggers and automation allowed us to reorganize our process
  • Open API has allowed us to integrate with a number of different systems
  • Fully automated Digital offerings
  • SDR consulting
Outreach has become the main platform for our SDRs. I haven't found a better alternative yet.
No
We have a well trained internal team here that can handle most support issues that arise. The premium option is available but we don't feel we need the additional assistance.
I have yet to have a negative experience with support. They are friendly, act like human beings, are smart, well trained, know where to find the answers, and are overall the most pleasing support team I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

Outreach

Outreach is being used for both our Inside Sales team and our Sales Development team. It allows us to easily organize our entire prospecting cycle from start to finish.
  • An intuitive and user-friendly tool that makes organizing Outreach touch points so quick and easy.
  • Great insights and reporting on every resource used by sales teams in Outreach.
  • I noticed Outreach is on top of what's happening in the marketplace and they've launched a new product feature almost every month.
Cons
  • I'd like to have the voicemail drop feature. They announced it would be coming months ago but haven't seen this feature yet.
  • I'd like an easier way to edit a sequence that has prospects in the cycle. We should be able to edit the sequence and not have to either remove them from the sequence or have to clone it.
Outreach is well suited for sales teams who are doing prospecting for new clients. It's not necessarily well suited for customer service teams who are managing existing clients on a regular basis.
So easy and user-friendly. I'm a big fan.
I look at the reports to see how many calls and emails have gone out from each sales rep. I also really love the reports that show me analytics for calls, emails, and tasks within the "prospects" section. It's helpful to see what days and times we're reaching people.
  • We have 2x the amount of opportunities.
  • Our pipeline increased by 20%.
The customer success team has been fine. It compares favorably against other software tools. The online tools helped me the most with product adoption.
Outreach is the best sales tool I've found. It saves us a ton of time and makes prospecting easy.
