What is Writer?
Writer is a full-stack generative AI platform for enterprises. It empowers business functions — support, operations, sales, HR, and marketing — to increase productivity while helping to ensure compliance.
The Writer platform consists of the following components:
Palmyra, the Writer-built family of transparent and auditable LLMs, is benchmarked on the Stanford HELM, and fine-tuned for specific industries.
Writer Knowledge Graph, a graph-based approach to retrieval-augmented generation, grounds generative AI with company-level context by connecting the platform to internal data sources. According to Writer it achieves fewer hallucinations than traditional RAG approaches that use vector retrieval.
AI guardrails enforce legal, compliance, and brand rules, so users get accurate, usable, AI-generated work they can trust.
A flexible application layer makes it easier to build custom apps for any workflow.
APIs, desktop experiences, and a ecosystem of extensions make generative AI available in all of the places employees work.
The enterprise-grade platform doesn’t use the organization's data in model training and complies with SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, PCI, GDPR, and Privacy Shield. Writer's deployment can be Writer-managed and customer-managed. Writer deploys a team of experts to help customers achieve successful adoption, including onboarding, user training, use case scoping, and data processing. Writer states that its enterprise users currently include Vanguard, Intuit, L'Oreal, Accenture, Dropbox, and Salesforce.

(1-16 of 16)Writer is a game-changer!
- Creates user-friendly content
- Minimal mistakes
- Great research
- Sometimes it crashes
- It should be easier to see how many words you have left out of your monthly package.
- Use emojis without encouragement
Amazing AI writer
- Writing in different tones
- Humanizing AI content
- Great content
- The interface lags sometimes
- Better audio transcription
Writer is better than Copilot
- Summarize content
- Create cross referencing between multiple sources
- would be awesome to allow it to add a URL as a source so it would be able to reference live content rather than copy and pasted content
- I'd love for it to integrate with other solutions such as MS CoPilot
- Seamless integration with MS Teams for summarizing transcriptions easier would be huge
My favorite new use case that I'm using it daily on is cross referencing multiple sources to generate a single output.
I've tried using it to generate tables/graphs with no luck. Co-pilot struggles with that too.
The absolute best B2B content creation platform
- Content refinement and quality control
- Ideation and "beating the blank page"
- Content summaries and generation
- Sometimes, the workflows could be a bit smoother
- Library and knowledge management organization
- Tone of voice control needs better training
I've found it less useful from a social media management content generation platform, with platforms like Taplio (limited to LinkedIn) being better. But I expect that's to come (hopefully).
A Must-Have Tool for All Writers and Editors
- Inclusive language
- Punctuation suggestions
- AI Rewriting
- Grammar and formatting
- The correction highlights don't always underline perfectly. Minor issue.
- Writer can miss some obvious grammar issues that Grammarly also misses (periods, extra spaces)
- Writer lacks English variants.
Writer's AI suggestions are good, too. It provides plenty of options for tone, voice, and complexity of writing. Overall, Writer's Chrome extension integrates well with most text fields on the internet. It isn't perfect with my company's CMS, but that's something unique to their formatting—Writer's underlines actually go through the text.
A useful tool that saves time and drives inspiration
- Brainstorming titles
- Writing social media copy
- Structuring blog posts
- i do find the organisation a bit confusing, like the functions available in 'ask Writer' being separate to the main window. there were lots of functions i wasn't able to find intuitively that we needed a support call for
- asking for a summary of key points doesn't always pick up the main points
the widget is a bit annoying because we work across US and UK english, so it is constantly highlighting regional spelling issues that aren't always relevant, and the pop-up blocks my vision of the text i'm working on.
i like it best for creating social media posts and struturing longer pieces of writing. the blog helper is fantastic.
The Tool for People Who Need to Write Well
- Rewrite tool is incredibly helpful; both in the Writer environment and the Google Chrome extension. Not buggy or laggy like other extensions I've tried.
- Ask Writer allows me to engage with documents in a conversational manner, instead of spending time crafting and sharpening my prompts.
- Quality responses from Ask Writer. Unlike other GPTs that are riddled with mistakes and hallucinations, I can use Writer confidently without being paranoid about triple-checking my work. I've used Writer for one year now and only found one error in that time.
- Integration of SEO tools and Keyword Research tools would be helpful
- Some features are only available to Enterprise plans, making them inaccessible to solopreneurs and micropreneurs
- I'd love to be able to create a word bank of common phrases and expressions I use to help keep my brand voice feeling authentic
Writing my way into more time each day
- Writer applies our writing style to copy I'm working on in browser tabs, ensuring I stay true to our voice.
- Writer is able to quickly skim full blogs via a single link to use them as source material for drafting marketing copy I need.
- Writer is my own business version of ChatGPT that keeps our sessions secure within the business.
- I'd love if the Writer extension for Chrome could use the web page I'm on as a source for whatever drafting I need done in the sidebar.
- Ask Writer -- helps me unpack and brainstorm all kinds of ideas
- Recaps -- great for summarizing and identifying the key takeaways of a long transcript of a speaking event
- I see a lot of exclamation points in the generated copy. I realize it's a tone issue, but I think Writer should be more selective in where they put exclamation points, so they don't get overused and lose their impact.
- B2B technology copy tends to overuse words: empower, transform, revolutionize, innovate, unleash. Understand that it's a reflection of what's out there, but would be great to propose fresh ideas.
Brainstorming for headlines, email subject lines, ads
Video summaries -- great for content creators
Writer is Right
- Detect plagiarism
- Keeps articles consistent
- Provided suggestions that work faster than my brain, but comes from my voice
- Navigation could be simplified
Great product for solo marketers.
Plus, the grammar and tone features help to ensure I am keeping the brand voice and standards consistent.
- Blog outlining.
- Rephasing content for social media
- Brainstorming
- I'd like to see an expanded prompt library.
- It would be good to have a variety of prebuilt voices.
- Maybe some videos/lessons on how to improve your prompts.
I haven't been able to test Writer's team functions, so I can’t say if it would be less useful for teams - but I certainly see the benefit for solo marketers.
A handy copywriting assistant
- Copywriting outlines
- Audio and video summaries
- AI copywriting suggestions
- SEO analysis and suggestions
- Summarizes events
- Breaks down recordings into key topics
- Helps with first drafts of blogs
- It would be great if Writer also offered transcripts
- It would be great if Writer offered the ability to prompt off of transcripts
- In my opinion, Writer does not do a great job with its case study or press release features. The prompts for those could be improved.
Write fast
- Regarding what Writer does, I can say as a first instance it makes my work easier when making my forms, sealing and inserting what I want to implement.
- As a second place when it comes to directing me through a business document, you have the option of the synonym search engine and automatic correction.
- As a third example, I would say that Writer makes my work easier, is easy to use[,] and saves versions of the same document.
- I would like it to have more text editing functions[.]
- It is an advantage for me since I can install it on my mobile device and thus be able to edit a document when I need it[.]
The beginning of a fantastic writing tool.
- My favorite aspect is how clear and accurate the sections for the many components of style are.
- They are thought-provoking in the sense that you don't always analyze the significance of where a comma is used or the capitalization of a word - until it becomes a problem.
- Creating our own language, typical blunders, and prohibited phrases.
- There is some setup required to get your word lists in there, adjust your editing style, and set up typical errors, but otherwise it works similarly to other programs (but worth it in my opinion).
- Their web editor loses formatting, which several team members have complained about. However, formatting is properly retained in GDocs, Word, and the Chrome extension. There is some setup required to get your word lists in there, adjust your editing style, and set up typical errors, but otherwise it works similarly to other programs (but worth it in my opinion).
- I wish it were easy to provide solutions to complex problems rather than simply highlighting them.
A clean spell-checker with own word processor
- It has a clean interface and is easy to read.
- Chrome integration makes my life easier. My organization doesn't allow external software
- It counts words as well so I don't have to use another doc manager like MSWord to count words when I am in a tight spot
- It checks as you write so you will know your mistakes instantly
- The suggestion tool seemed a little slow. I don't think it's my internet as I saw it both from my home and office.
- Web text boxes created some trouble for me as I couldn't correct my mistakes from the prompt. I had to use the side panel
