Gusto is to track our PTO and pay periods and review the breakdown of our pay stubs. Gusto also offers us options to open an emergency or rainy day fund for ourselves and release it into your account within the following days. It is straightforward, and I wish more employers would come with Gusto versus Workday.

I have no bad reviews about Gusto! The website is easy to use, and the app is just as manageable. Gusto is also eye-catching with its animations before logging in, while you're logged in, and when you log out. It's great that they send reminder texts and emails (if you set it up) when you're getting paid.

  • Organization
  • Notification
  • Check Stub
  • On time direct deposit estimate
  • Notify of pay changes
  • Time off balance updates
I like logging in from the app, however, there are times it says I will be paid such date and no payment is received until 3/4 business days later. This is incredibly frustrating with bill pay being scheduling by my bank for set dates and times.

We use Gusto to help with HR duties, as we are a pretty small staff. We use it for payroll, inputting time off, paying for reimbursements, and most recently employee reviews! This centralizes our system rather than having such things fully scattered around and across different websites or programs (or in some cases paper in filing cabinets.)
  • Informing employees of necessary employment paperwork needed to be filled out.
  • Centralizing multiple functions.
  • General communication with employees.
  • Email titles that don't sound like spam- employees delete important emails thinking they are spam.
  • A function for organizations that give all PTO for a year in a lump sum, rather than showing PTO accrual.
For a small staff with a limited HR/payroll staff capacity, this program is perfect. We have had some issues with showing PTO, however, as we give our employees PTO in a lump sum rather than by accrual.

Gusto is used for payroll and employee benefits, and it works just fine. Everyone can download their benefits documents from a central location and we don't have to worry about distributing it individually. It's used across the company of over 100 employees and it can be cumbersome to find your own information at that scale, but it does a pretty good job only showing docs that are relevant to oyu.
  • Payroll
  • Insurance
  • Time Off
  • Company Documents
  • Time off scheduling is cumbersome
  • Information can be overwhelming
  • Very dense GUI means visually impaired users have trouble navigating
Best for large business ventures, less useful for small businesses. If you can effectively distribute information without it, Gusto will only slow you down. But if you need a large group of people across the world to be able to access information, Gusto can solve that problem for you. It works well for managing pay but is not effective for simple requests where a DM to a manager would work.

At our office we mainly use Gusto for payroll, time tracking and PTO requests. Before using Gusto, we would just use Quickbooks for those three things, but it was never super straightforward and information would often get a bit cluttered. Having the pages very clearly broken up and laid out has really helped keep track of our employees time, not related to billable time.
We also utilize their documents feature, where we can view and sign off on updates to the employee handbook. The most fun feature we use it for is sending birthday wishes to colleagues.
  • PTO Requests
  • Time tracking
  • Tracking pay and benefits
  • The site often lags/freezes
  • Employees can't edit PTO requests after submitting them
  • For a while the PTO feature wasn't working...this seems to be fixed but was very frustrating at the time
Gusto has been great for keeping track of time on the clock and PTO time. Gusto has not been useful for billable time vs non-billable time and for keeping track of additional tasks my employer may compensate me for such as billing mileage that I drove in my own personal car.

We use Gusto for our payroll and uploading documents on employees. It has proven to be a secured and easy software to handle our company's payroll and employee needs. It allows our employees to request time off and we can track the time that has been approved and not approved on here.
  • Easy to run payroll
  • requesting days off
  • make categories in addition to time off
  • push deposits earlier
  • be more automated
  • Better mobile app
This software is beneficial for small businesses. It provides an easy-to-use platform for managing employee raises, pay, and time off without overlooking such details. Would suggest this for any company that does not have designated employees to do each of these jobs. Allows for one person to take on multiple hats.

Benefits and tracking paychecks were made so easy with the useful and intuitive user experience provided by gusto. They even have cute little animations that make the interface feel so cool and hip. This product has freed up out hr department and streamlined out access to out benefits and pay information
  • Makes it easy to complete paperwork
  • Easy to set up Direct Deposit
  • Ask you to make referrals to friends or start a bank account with Gusto
  • Pushing your products less
  • contacting me less
  • making it easy to turn off notifications
I don't typically recommend products like this, like it never comes up in normal conversation, and unless I am being paid, why do free advertisement. Gusto is well suited as a tool for employees, it is poorly suited as an ad space. Simply put, if there were less adds or offers, I would be more inclined to rate Gusto higher.

It is so easy to use there is no need for a guide. It allows users to make changes on your time up to the payday without needing a supervisor. No problem with setting up individual accounts for users. Would recommend to not only large companies but small business owners as well.
  • adding time
  • correcting time
  • accessibility
Gusto is extremely suited for all users regardless of their technical level. Adding time is easy. Only issue I had was receiving the initial email to set up my account. It had to be sent several times.

We use Gusto to clock in and clock out of our shift. We also use Gusto to request time off (paid or unpaid) Gusto tells us how much money we made in our pay period and what day we're getting paid. There's an optional way to get paid 2 days earlier with Gusto.
  • It's easy to use and understand
  • It handles security well (biometrics and 2fa with google authenticator)
  • Tracking how much time has been worked and automatically telling you how much paid time off you have
  • I wish there was a way I could automatically clock in. It's hard to only have a 60 second gap where I can clock in "on time" without making edits
  • There used to be a problem with loading data but it seems like it has since been resolved
  • Signing up initially was a bit tricky and not as intuitive
My employer uses Gusto to track our time and to keep track of who is off. Gusto has a feature that can let you be paid early which is great. I like how easy it is to take time off requests and how easy it is to see how much paid time off you have earned. You're able to edit your clock in and clock out, which is nice. Gusto is one of the best apps on the market for employee time tracking. They have biometrics enabled and 2fa with the google authenticator app, which is great security-wise.

Gusto allows all users to access payroll information, paystubs, time tracking, time off and benefits all in one place! Gusto is very straightforward and easy to learn, ensuring users don't need to undergo additional training. It also makes onboarding and adding new users feel efficient. Gusto eliminates the need for external time tracking or reviews, and easy direct deposit setup, which is our primary use; a single place to ensure all employees get paid properly.
  • Gusto automates the entire payroll process, from calculating wages and deductions to direct deposit. Automated payroll on a set schedule is extremely helpful.
  • Gusto provides a robust self-service portal for employees. Employees can access their pay stubs, tax forms, and benefits information directly from their personal accounts
  • Gusto helps businesses stay compliant with payroll and tax regulations. The software automatically updates for changes in tax laws and ensures that the business is compliant with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Trouble setting up mixed work places of hourly and salaried employees.
Gusto is an efficient and user-friendly payroll and management tool that excels in automation, ensuring compliance, and providing customer support. Its features make it an ideal choice for small businesses looking to streamline their payroll and HR operations. However, it may be less suitable for very large organizations with highly complex payroll needs.

Gusto is used in our small startup to handle payrolls and PTO. Instead of simply using Slack for these official functions, Gusto provides a centralized platform to manage everything.
  • User-friendly interface to manage PTO and vacations.
  • Centralized location to view employment documents.
  • Would be nice to have a portal lookup other employees with contact info.
  • More types of PTO should be available.
For small companies, Gusto can do the work of a secretary. Handling payroll, PTO, and performance reviews is trivial with this software.

We use gusto to track time, benefits, payroll, and as an employee tree. I love that I can easily access my pay stubs and request time off. Gusto also allows me to separate my checks into savings accounts that I can still access easily when I need to use some of the money I have set to put back.
  • Organization
  • Muti-use
  • Money management.
  • Time management.
  • The layout of the pay stubs could look cleaner.
  • Being able to see the cost of the insurance outside of enrollment windows.
  • Add the pay advance option back.
I've never owned my own business, but I see the variety of options that can be offered to an employer and an employee. I love that it's super easy to check my pay and hours and move money between savings and spending accounts on the go. I can even put in requests for time off on the go.

I am an employee who uses Gusto to clock in/out, view my paycheck, and add vacation requests. I use Gusto four times a day: once to clock in, another to add a lunch break/clock out of a break, and again to clock out at the end of the day. My vacation requests are also submitted through Gusto.
  • Time tracking.
  • Paycheck breakdown.
  • Employer holiday tracking.
  • Logging in is burdensome- constantly putting in the password is irritating and a waste of time.
  • Sometimes the GPS is not accurate or lags.
  • the paycheck preview doesn't give useful information.
I think Gusto is excellent for timesheets, especially if you operate in a way that requires employers to have a time stamp to clock in and out of work. The app is clear and easy to use and isn't bogged down with extra features that no one will really use. I think it is least useful for salaried individuals who don't need to track all breaks and such.

Gusto is a really user friendly and helpful app for working. It is great to be able to see my pay stubs and quickly and safely update my details such as social security number or contact details. It can also show helpful information about co workers such as birthdays which I also find really helpful. Being able to add an emergency contact detail really puts me as ease as I have family at home and if something was to happen they would know
  • Pay stubs
  • Co workers birthdays
  • Easy to use
  • Quick
  • Sometimes a little hard to change some details
  • Authenticator sometimes takes long to login
  • Occasional freezes
Gusto just makes all things with the Payroll super easy and user friendly. I have only recently started using it with work and it has make everything so simple and transparent. I no longer have to guess how much I am getting paid and how much tips I have made. I find it much easier to change my personal information rather than having to email hr and ask them to change it which could take a couple of days or weeks.

It is used to clock in and out, essentially as a timecard. There are also capabilities for it to be used as an internal review service, but we don't use those. Also, it houses all my employment documents, such as W2s and the like.
  • Timecard capabilities
  • Storage of hiring and onboarding documents
  • Allows for workplace management and remote clockin/out
  • Uploading files is a bit tough
Gusto is well suited for online and remote working, and not as well suited for in person, where a timecard can be used.

Gusto was the payroll provider and timesheet keeper for my previous job. They also offer a "wallet" which is basically online banking through NKBC bank with a debit card. It was nice and easy having the wallet and payroll linked together. I used Gusto to track hours, get paystubs, log sick time etc...
  • Timesheetsv were super easy to access and user friendly. You always know how many hours you worked and good reminders as well if you forget to clock in or out.
  • I liked how the app always had a countdown to payday. In my own weird way it was a good way to keep on top of my expenses
  • Expense breakdown in Gusto wallet. It is quite helpful.
  • The fact that you could print employee verification letters is a really good feature.
  • There is no way to link the bank to a third party app. So, while you can print a verification letter, there is no way to link Gusto wallet to plaid is any other verification site. Any chance of using gudti for a loan or financing a car is impossible. Most lenders will not accept Gusto e VC rn if that's where all your paychecks come through.
  • The customer service. It's really hard to get a hold of anyone, and they are not very friendly. In fact they are downright rude and accusatory from my experience. They seem to not want to have anything to do with the customers. It takes them forever and a day to respond to any email, and when they do they are dismissive. A very unfriendly bunch and they give off the exclusive in group clique vibe in my opinion. It's not easy to figure out who to talk to for certain issues.
Gusto is actually really really good as just a payroll provider. There were never any problems with timekeeping or checks or reporting... The app is very user friendly and designed very well. It's the Gusto wallet aspect that needs work. In hindsight I would not have used the wallet and coinciding debit card for banking. Just too many issues.

We use Gusto and its services for employee onboarding and payroll processing. It makes it very easy for our employees to set up their accounts, link checking and savings accounts, and process all tax forms. We used to have to walk new hires through the process in person, but not any more.
  • Ease of processing of tax forms
  • Simple employee onboarding process
  • On time check delivery
  • Payroll reminders
  • Improved tracking of hours for salaried employees
  • Simplify or refine the reimbursement categories for paystubs
Gusto has worked well for us with hourly employees who receive occasional tips on paychecks. The tracking of hours for salaried employees, though not applicable to all sectors, would be helpful in our industry.

I think it is a unique HR and Payroll app that is handy for personal banking. I no longer need to rely on brick-and-mortar banks to access my payroll funds at any time. I also personally use the app for its spending tracker pie chart, which helps me understand how I spend my money better. I enjoy that it is a free app and that Gusto upgraded me to the premium account, which is a perk of my employment at my organization.
  • The spending tracker is really helpful.
  • I enjoy how employees can get paid up to 2 days early once their paycheck is recognized.
  • The way the billing breakdown/transaction record and app are easy to read.
  • I already think the app is streamlined, and I've had no complaints about using it.
  • Since [I think] people can get a Gusto account mainly through an employer organization, the only doubt I had is that I thought my employer could see all of my financial information in my account. But after a 2-minute phone call and reassurance that this fear would violate federal banking laws, I was relieved. Maybe a disclaimer could be included on the webpage or in employees' onboarding that would put people with that concern at ease.
It is streamlined and the user interface is very user-friendly and modern.

We have a small business with one employee, and then at times, employees or contractors in other US states. Gusto was able to onboard these other people, and and advise me on setting up the state employment accounts for them.

As other issues that come up from time to time, I email or chat with Gusto and they are very responsive in getting things cleared up.

Monthly payroll otherwise is a breeze.
  • Setting up new employees
  • Helping out on difficult issues
  • Reminding me about tasks that need to be done
  • Reminding me to remove '"dormant" employees that haven't worked for awhile from the active payroll.
  • It would be nice to have a state-by-state article about all 50 state employment regulations and procedures.
If you have one or more employees, and don't want to spend much time doing payroll-related activities, Gusto will get the job done for you. They have real people working in the office who are ready to help you with issues that come up. Otherwise, their web site is very straightforward, allowing you to do the regular stuff yourself that's needed to get new hires onboarded and set up with state employment agencies. They also have other programs for your overall employment strategy like employee savings accounts and medical insurance. I'm happy with them.

Gusto has been primarily used by us to process payroll and contractors. It makes payroll seamless and easy as it is very user friendly and easy to get started. It also is great in handling tax forms and reporting.
  • Hiring of new hires (ease of onboarding)
  • Providing tax forms
  • Entering/running payroll
  • Functionality is slow when over 100 employees
  • Time tracking has room for improvement
  • Interfacing for benefit enrollment with outside parties doesn't always work.
Gusto is very appropriate for sub 50 employees and potentially up to 100. It is best when Gusto is the acting benefits broker as there are some hiccups when a third party is used.

We use Gusto as our main payroll software for all of our clients as well as our own payroll. Not only is Gusto a reliable source for payroll processing, the "upload a notice" feature has been incredible for our firm. The support that Gusto offers firms like ours is unmatched with 3 different communication options.
  • Support
  • Helping with any notice received.
  • Amending quarterlies as needed.
  • I would like to be able to file a return as final through the software.
Gusto is the perfect payroll software for start up and growing companies. It is much more user friendly than some other payroll processing software's. I would recommend Gusto to any business owner or accounting firm with payroll clients. Their support is unmatched and has an answer for your questions/issues in a timely manner.

Terrible with State Taxes

Works well for payroll, but it has been a nightmare with State taxes. I have been trying to resolve the issue since June, and I cannot get a serious person to help me. They have not been able to file our state taxes as a result. They say there's a missmatch between out EIN and name with the stat and the IRS, but there is nothing, we have called and called and called and emailed and emailed and emailed, and no help.
  • messing up state taxes
  • payroll
  • ease of use
  • Customer service with tax issues
They're fine for the basics, but when you get to state tax things, they are a mess. They claim there is a missmatch between our EIN and or name and what the state has and the IRS has, so they cannot file taxes and will block the account. We have double checked about a million times with the state and IRS, there is no missmatch. Something in their system is triggering this. And I have called and called, emailed and emailed, and am never able to get an answer. Get a new clueless and very nice person every time. Never get to a person who can actually help. The more I read online, the more similar issues I am seeing from other people. We will leave them as soon as we can.

We use Gusto to on-board new hires, to pay our staff, and manage integrated benefits. Gusto has a delightful, intuitive and easy-to-use on-boarding process. Best of any system that I've tried, and every aspect of it is digital – including all document signing. This is great for virtual teams! We also easily, paperlessly and seamlessly sign up staff for benefits. Everything is integrated and simple to administer. We also use Gusto to manage payroll for all our clients. It's easy to toggle to different clients, and stay on top of the varied payroll and reporting schedules that our clients have.
  • Process payroll, generate payroll reports, keep track of quarterly and annual filings
  • Integrated with a host of other specialize applications to customize personnel management by client
  • Billing is simple to understand and easy for master account holders to manage when they have multiple clients.
  • The interface is terrific. Best SaaS, in my opinion!
  • Export reports directly to Excel instead of CSV.
  • Allow admins to build better, customized workflows and notifications to managers.
I would love to use Gusto for companies of all staff sizes but I understand that larger businesses will opt for a PEO and willingly give up flexibility and features to do that. However, I love that Gusto can be customized on so many levels – offer letter, adding documents for new hires, document verification, deploying documents to existing staff, tracking who has signed, helping staff select health benefits (love that this is an entirely paperless process!), screen share support (love this!), a host of integrations with other apps are easy to link up. The interface is delightful (love the piglet!), HR support for Master Admins is very professional. There are templates, forms, rules and updates provided for all States. And the reports are so easy to read, customize and understand. Amazing!

The Gusto was used for payroll of the contractors and employees, who were worked for our company. It made tasks which were apprehended with ease and it helped to achieve in establishing a working system. The great option of Gusto, is that it gives you to choose the 1099 for you or you can do it yourself, which is very vital if your contractors from different states. And the last, but not least a positive greeting at your dashboard and upon completing tasks give you a really nice feeling in your work routine.
  • It is great to keep up yor payroll schedule
  • Good report management
  • You can even consider international contractors for payroll
  • It gives forehand alert for upcoming bank holidays
  • The scheduled payment always arrives on time
  • In my personal opinion, so far so good. However, my evaluation only as a user
If you are managing small business and you deal with different contractors on a distance work, Gusto is the best solution for your payroll and accounting system. It is working like Swiss watches and any support you needed you'll receive it from professionals in a step-by-step explanation. Any business starts with relations, and the best improvements of your relationship is timely managed payment which is a very good provided by Gusto.

Within Alleva we used Gusto to get pay, to request time off, and to manage and organize an org chart. All these things were super easy to use in Gusto, and were simple enough that not much training was needed. The pay stubs were easy to find, and it was simple enough to request time off, and check time off balances.
  • Get Paystubs to the User
  • Helps with Requesting Time Off
  • Organizing an Org Chart
  • They always are looking for referrals.
  • Sometimes it wasn't super easy to find time off requests
I was able to check my paystubs on a regular basis easily, and I requested time off through the interface and that went really well.
