Used to help train and coach sales reps on the good, bad and ugly of each of their calls.
  • Filter words on calls.
  • Averages amongst the company on topics said on calls.
  • Quick upload times.
Cons
  • Cleaner user interface when searching for a business. The new update is a little confusing.
Great for coaching to best practices.

Gong.io is just being used by our sales team. We're using it to record calls, better understand what top reps are saying, and benchmark our conversations against others on our teams.
  • Recording - automatically enters all of our conversations on SalesLoft, Google Hangouts, or GoToMeeting
  • Transcripts calls - breaks down important topics that were discussed
  • Identifies when the prospect is taking VS sales representatives and gives us insight into how to improve our calls
Cons
  • Coaching can be a little confusing
Best for a junior sales team with little guidance.

We use it to record our qualifier calls. Afterward, we use those recordings to analyze how the call went—keywords, speaking times, etc. We often use past recordings to train new qualifiers as well. We use Gong on the sales teams for early-stage calls.
  • Core functionality: recording

  • CMS: easy to find past content
Cons
  • The user portal can be a little confusing as an admin when managing licenses.
  • It appears Gong records every meeting we have. It would be nice to automate on/off for specific meetings (or learn how).
Sales calls (when allowed to record), training, call analytics, and tags/searching conversations.

[Gong.io] is the absolute best thing that has happened for call coaching. We no longer rely on reps having to manually record calls, and then somehow upload it to a shared drive in order to share and get feedback. Everything can be done automatically which saves a lot of time. The automatic statistics (call time, talk ratio, questions asked, etc) are great as well to get a pulse on how everyone individually is doing.

  • Some reporting can be a little confusing
[Gong.io] is extremely well suited for any remote sales team. It allows for collaboration in a way that is not typically available when everyone is in an office together. Calls can be recorded, [reviewed], and commented all in one place. [Gong.io is] especially helpful for any reps who might forget to take notes and then go back and listen later!

Gong is a fantastic tool for training purposes, being able to improve on closing methods, and coming back to the call for key points of interest to drive follow-ups and proposals. We also use it to keep track of deals and pipe health which has been incredibly helpful.
  • Ease of use.
  • Robust
  • Educational in the sense that it allows you to watch teammates' calls and obtain best practices.
Cons
  • Some things are a bit clunky.
  • Wish the keyword insight pickup was a little better/more detailed.
  • Not really sure how to leverage all the features.
Gong is really a fantastic tool for sales teams. Especially when someone new comes on board, to be able to watch different styles of calls is extremely useful and even for seasoned reps for areas of improvement. Also, as sales reps become busier with calls, it's often impossible to keep track of all the key points, so being able to go back and review the call has made a world of difference. I wouldn't recommend this tool if you're not a customer-centric focused organization.
