Constant Contact is being used to send out targeted e-blasts for local events at our chamber of commerce. Largely, this is sent to our subscribers, but it is also shared on social media. This does add additional subscribers who follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Setting up campaigns, surveys, and events is made easier with the help of Constant Contact.
  • Templates are a great tool to send out a quick, efficient e-blast without exerting too much time.
  • It is user-friendly, in that the website is easy enough to navigate that even a novice can manage to send out a fluent campaign to subscribers.
  • Works across all email providers (e.g. Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, etc.) without having strange formatting issues, making the email campaign look unprofessional and disorganized.
Cons
  • Currently, I do not have any issues with Constant Contact. Everything is very straightforward, making little room for error.
  • Improving the speed of the website is the only criticism, though this could be due to faulty internal internet connections, rather than the website itself.
Constant Contact is easy to add into conversation when addressing digital marketing campaigns. It is an efficient service that can keep up with its rivals e.g., Contactology a.k.a. Campaigner.

Good, But May Not Be The Best Option

We used Constant Contact for several of our clients to deliver electronic emails. We did experience some difficulties with the product. After getting several positive reviews for an alternative platform, we stopped our subscription to Constant Contact and went with the other option. We are much happier now.
  • Rather easy to use
  • Simple instructions for using
  • Very responsive in its use
Cons
  • Customer service
  • "Free trials" that are actually free
  • Pricing
I would certainly recommend this as an option. I would also pass only my current email platform for evaluation as well. Constant Contact may be a great fit for some, but I would definitely recommend evaluating several others platforms before making the final decision to choose Constant Contact.

I have used Constant Contact off and on for a number of years, both for our company and on behalf of our clients. It used to be the de facto option in email marketing, but in recent years I feel it has fallen behind compared to more sophisticated options in the marketplace.
  • Easy to import lists
  • Templates are a great start for beginners
  • List management is easy
Cons
  • If you know how to code, it lacks intuitiveness
  • Templates are cookie cutter
  • Lack of additional automation features (or at least, there used to be)
It works great as an entry level option for users wanting to dip their toes into email marketing. But if you want to dig deeper into automation, a/b testing, and more in depth options, it lacks some of the feature sets its peers possess. Not a bad option, but I feel like you can grow out of it instead of grow with it.

  • Ease of use, user-friendly interface
  • Comprehensive reporting
  • Ability to integrate with CRM
Cons
  • Improved tracking functionality to be able to see user behavior post open and post click
  • Ability to support responsive design
  • Be seamless across different email providers
If they don't need responsive design much, I'd definitely recommend this product.

Consider Constant Contact, but be aware of its limitations

  • As far as content creation, the available templates to start a design have improved.
  • The library and archiving of past campaigns and emails are well organized and easily accessible to clone and revise for a new campaign.
  • The reporting functions are basic but straightforward and easy to review and forward for others to review.
  • Creating and revising an existing design has become easier and more intuitive over the years. There remain a few glitches when attempting to perform some seemingly simple design actions such as centering images and copy in certain instances, but I have seen much worse and constraining design functions in other email communication systems.
Cons
  • The design process is the area where Constant Contact has the most room to improve. Sometimes what seen as very simple functions such as centering text or images can be inoperable and frustrating to find a workaround, wasting a lot of time trying to figure it out.
  • Some of the design function glitches appear to be random, and attempts at workarounds can be quite time consuming.
Carefully review the criteria you must have in an email marketing system for your organization. Keep an open mind and search out all of the usual suspects in email marketing systems first. Consider using Constant Contact if your organization is a small business or non-profit. It may not be robust enough for larger enterprises.
