In my former job, we used this system to clock in and clock out for work. It was pretty hard to manage your hours because there was no mobile app that went with it. We also didn't get any sort of pay info because the only thing we would get on pay day was a direct deposit.
Chose Gusto
Gusto can be edited, and they cannot. Gusto has an easier time in/time out feature. Deputy is not visually appealing, and looks more like a spreadsheet. PTO is not able to be entered there.
Chose Gusto
I haven't used others, but where I work has found Gusto to their liking and very user friendly. If I ever started my own personal buisness I would likely use Gusto as well because of its seeming ease of use and clarity amongst the entirety of the staff and workers.
Chose Gusto
Gusto is much easier to use than Zoho.
Chose Gusto
quickbooks was hard to navigate and tbh it was ugly!
Chose Gusto
Gusto provides the all time best benefits options for a employee as well as employer compared to other companies.
Chose Gusto
Gusto had more tools and resources and is much more user friendly from a employee standpoint.
Chose Gusto
Gusto is far superior to other payroll software I have used! I can clock in and out using the app, so there is no longer a need for a workplace time clock. Gusto is the first software I've used that reminds employees to check their hours at the end of a pay period, …
Chose Gusto
Quickbooks is a very simple platform with not a lot of features and it is difficult to organize logged hours between billable, non-billable and PTO. I appreciate how Gusto gives a very simple breakdown of hours worked each day/week and PTO. Gusto is a much more effective way to …
Chose Gusto
Have not used any other products to compare to but I will say this software is great for a company with no sub departments. Easy to understand on setting up. The help/customer service is a wait, but hopefully you will not have to call them much. I would suggest anyone giving …

Gusto is not overly complicated. Straight to the point
Chose Gusto
Gusto seems much more official and less risky than using Venmo, which allows for too much margin of error.
Chose Gusto
Much better, easier to find things.
Chose Gusto
Gusto allows us to verify time easier. Employees can not manually change time without inserting a note. This helps to hold them accountable and to know they are working efficiently
Chose Gusto
Gusto offers more features both to employees and administration, making it more of an all in one solution instead of a strictly payroll app.
Chose Gusto
Gusto is very competitive and easy to use
Chose Gusto
I haven't used anything like Gusto before.
Chose Gusto
While ADP wasn't a terrible platform- very basic ands streamlined. Paycor has lots of room for improvement along with their customer service.
Chose Gusto
Gusto is similar to all these apps however with these apps you need to download 3 different apps but Gusto has everything. Apps like Workday takes up to a day to show your paystub and even still may not show it in detail. The user interfaces on the other apps is also much …
Chose Gusto
It is the best and easiest for us as an org with a lot of contractor/freelancers as well as a smaller full time team. It is perfect for receiving and managing employees’ tax forms and managing their payroll.
Chose Gusto
Gusto is young. They are nowhere close to the level of paychex or ADP, But as a payroll provider in time they can get there.
Chose Gusto
Gusto was overall more cost effective while providing more services than the competitors we checked.

Gusto is especially well-suited for small businesses. Its down-to-earth support staff and simple-to-use platform without extensive training make it a no-brainer. Larger companies may need a more comprehensive program, but it is harder for me to judge as I work for small businesses. It's very versatile, and no company should worry about using it.

Pros
Gusto
  • Timesheetsv were super easy to access and user friendly. You always know how many hours you worked and good reminders as well if you forget to clock in or out.
  • I liked how the app always had a countdown to payday. In my own weird way it was a good way to keep on top of my expenses
  • Expense breakdown in Gusto wallet. It is quite helpful.
  • The fact that you could print employee verification letters is a really good feature.

Cons
Gusto
  • I already think the app is streamlined, and I've had no complaints about using it.
  • Since [I think] people can get a Gusto account mainly through an employer organization, the only doubt I had is that I thought my employer could see all of my financial information in my account. But after a 2-minute phone call and reassurance that this fear would violate federal banking laws, I was relieved. Maybe a disclaimer could be included on the webpage or in employees' onboarding that would put people with that concern at ease.

Unless they break it, I'm never leaving. It's just too easy. Gusto is also really affordable, and for what I pay, it's worth having the historical record within the system. I like that I can go back and pull up W2's for year's past. This sort of easy access reporting, has been helpful especially when getting reports for PPP loans.

Usability
Gusto
I gave this rating because it is really easy to access through my phone which is super helpful. The user interface is also simple to navigate and find where I need to go. Also the pig walking in space is a great thing to watch while waiting for the info to load.

Gusto
Gusto's customer service has really deteriorated lately and they seem to have really changed their focus. It used to be when you called you were routed to an individual who knew about payroll, benefits, reporting, etc. but now you get someone who seems to have not received the correct training. My last call about a dismissal payroll took me over an hour of my time and the person still could not help me and finally transferred me to someone else.

Gusto
Gusto has a glitch-free on-boarding process that surpasses all of the other systems that I have ever tried and used. Rippling is the only other platform that comes close to the Gusto online experience, but Rippling has its PEO/behind-the-scenes legacy system glitches, and it's not nearly as user friendly as Gusto. Gusto's reports are THE best compared with all the other platforms that I have tried.

  • After a recent glitch with the payroll processing system, employees were forced to accept paper checks for a few weeks while Gusto's technical support team figured out the problem. This led to some employees being forced to miss work and lose money while having to deal with an antiquated paper check process.
