A great, cheap option for small organizations!
Overall Satisfaction with Wave Accounting
I utilize it to do the bookkeeping for one small non-profit client, as well as oversee roughly 10 other clients that use it for their own bookkeeping. I like that it is free for small non-profits and startups and that it is generally easier to use than QuickBooks, but works the same way by pulling in bank account transactions and producing financial reports.
Pros
- Affordable accounting software.
- Not too overwhelming.
Cons
- Their reports have gotten a lot better, but are still not able to do month to month comparisons.
- It does not handle inventory well at all.
- I like being able to give clients options outside of QuickBooks.
- I like being able to save clients money.
I was not impressed with Xero or ZipBooks simply because they were expensive and still as, if not more, confusing than QuickBooks. QuickBooks is, unfortunately, the standard. I dislike it, and I think it is just a huge corporation trying to steal small businesses money, but unfortunately, I haven't found a software that can quite compare with the full functionality of QuickBooks. Wave at least offers a competent system for free. If they move it to becoming a paid software, I don't know how much more I will continue to recommend it because it does have a lot of limitations still.
