WatchGuard provides highly secure environments and equipment to better protect customers facing day-to-day IT threats. The company is seen as a leader in the network security segment and is enjoying a really good reputation for its solutions. We use them as the best option for securing IT networks for our customers that are willing to invest to protect their IT investments.

We worked with an IT company in our affiliated group to procure the equipment since we are not able to procure it ourselves. The partner managed to configure the equipment, install it and provide support and continues to this day to be the first level support for any issue we face with configuring the equipment.
We like the fact the single key lets us activate multiple features in the router, that way it's more simple to renew features and make procurement easier. The interface is easy to understand and it's simple to get what you need when the time comes up for renewal and installation of the new feature key with the cloud portal.
Fortinet was also an excellent choice. A customer wanted the biggest name out there and knew WatchGuard prior to making the change so they decided to go with WatchGuard even though Fortinet offers comparable solutions at comparable price. At this end it's only a matter of picking what you prefer because they are both excellent choices.

3 - Our team of technicians that are working with WatchGuard are support technicians assisting customers that currently have Watchguard products installed in their environments and need assistance with configuring their equipment to enable functionality such as VPN access for remote work and adjusting security features to make sure critical applications are working.
3 - We use a 3rd-party partner for any low-level configuration. We essentially make changes to the router that we support with high-level adjustment. Trading to low-level configuration is required to best serve the customer and make sure customer investments are well protected and that customer gets the most of their WatchGuard equipment.

Evaluating WatchGuard Network Security and Competitors
Yes - The company was using an older style Cisco product that was outdated and nobody had the knowledge to maintain it and configure it after many years with the equipment in place. It was not secure anymore and needed to be replaced. Direct replacement was considered not enough powerful and the decision was made to change the brand.

The reputation of the product was the key factor with that decision. Leading brand for security with many cases of customers and providers getting hacked left and right made a good case to invest in security. Having the best-in-class is always reassuring knowing there are so many ways to get security problems related to router.
We would keep the same evaluation. There has been some issue with configuring leading to a potential problem but it's not related to the selection of the product and the product itself but a misunderstanding of the functionality combined with the instructions given to the service provider. Overall we would do the same.
WatchGuard Network Security Support
No, we consider our setup pretty simple and we are backed by the company that procured the equipment. We are confident the basic support would be enough in case of a problem and the company can still function in the event of a network outage. If worst comes to worst we could fairly easily install a new router pretty quickly.
We contacted support to transfer ownership of some equipment at a branch office. The call was made and the situation was resolved quickly with a straightforward solution. That was the only case we had to contact the support and it went well. We are pretty confident it would be the same for any call made to support.
