Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

WatchGuard is being used internally at my organization to protect my technical assets, internal systems and client information. For nearly 10 years I have sold and supported WatchGuard appliances to clients while employed at other IT support companies in my area, as well as when I went out on my own and started my own IT consultant business. I only recommend WatchGuard as I feel the value of services beats any other competitor.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Extremely easy to manage multiple devices, efficiently with minimal effort
Clear easy to use logging/reporting via WatchGuard Cloud and WatchGuard dimension
Managing subscriptions and services as a reseller makes it easy to offer, sell and deploy

Cons

The WatchGuard XCS line of product was extremely powerful, but the SpamBlocker services on the current WatchGuard product subscription lacks featureset and deep spam analysis
As more services are pushed to the cloud, I would have liked to still see improvements and added features to the on premises WatchGuard gateway wireless controller. WatchGuard wifi cloud is great, but the on premises is still valued.

WatchGuard has given my company a solid revenue stream
With the ability to sell WatchGuard and to prove its use-cases, I am confident in saying I can protect any clients network no matter how big or small.

I purchase all of my WatchGuard devices from Interwork Technologies, and the staff there are extremely helpful in processing orders and getting hardware out quickly.

Usability

Knowing the product line and using WatchGuard product for nearly 10 years leads me to believe that the usability is excellent. Knowing the features through self-learning via the NFR program really helps justify this rating.

WatchGuard Network Security Packaging and Licensing

Although most of my clients do not have on premises servers to protect like Mail Servers, Application or Databases that need to be public facing, I feel the security suite options are very generous to offer what they do. Being able to select basic security suite and total security suite does demonstrate value and justifies the price of each subscription that is sold.

Alternatives Considered

Ubiquiti Networks UniFi and SonicWall NSA Series

I have always found that the WatchGuard device software has been way easier to understand traffic flow, policy management and how its services operate. The System Manager and WebUI have come a long way, and I feel that competitors are lacking those components.

Likelihood to Recommend

WatchGuard services are affordable compared to competitors and demonstrate importance surrounding any industry especially for small businesses who like to run their ISP's modem and protect their network with the bare minimum, it's a pleasure to demonstrate the feature-set and power of a WatchGuard appliance.
