In our organization, we use Webex Calling as the core communication platform for voice calling, replacing our on premise PBX systems. We use it across multiple departments and locations to enable seamless internal and external communication via cloud based telephony. We can make and receive calls through desk phones, desktop applications and mobile devices, no matter where they are located.
Pros
- Reliable call performance with high quality
- Multi Device Experience
- Integrated collaboration and calling with other Webex tools
- Scalable across different locations
Cons
- User Interface could be more modern
- Occasional sync issues with devices
- Whiteboarding export and sharing options could be more

According to my experience where Webex Calling is well suited is for hybrid and remote work environments. Our team includes remote employees and hybrid workers across locations worldwide and Webex Calling works exceptionally well for us. The scenario where Webex Calling is less appropriate is where the team is very small or startups that just need basic calling without any advanced routing.
I would use Webex Calling
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
Our business uses this application for daily meetings, educational courses and remote work messages. We utilize Webex Calling as a means to keep in touch with our local and global contacts. It allows professors to teach remotely and students to attend class even if they are sick. Webex Calling proved its use especially during COVID when the campus was shuttered for almost a year.
Pros
- Federated messaging
- Uninterrupted calling
- Provides cost savings
Cons
- Combine the Webex Calling and Webex Meet applications
- Allow for skins for user personalization
- Allow contacts to be added without your contact list

Our call centers would benefit from this so we would not have to supply a desk phone nor would we need to worry about timing, VPN timing. We can load this on any laptop and send them home to work.
I think Cisco Webex Calling is way behind
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We've used Cisco Webex Calling in our company many times. Especially for meetings or after work hour courses. I mean...compared to the other various streaming conference platforms out there, in my opinion, Cisco Webex Calling is one of the worst. This left me shocked as I know Cisco is well known for many well-functioning products and programs, however I feel like they didn't really put in much work when it comes to Webex Calling. I think they're very behind compared to others and are missing quite a few functionalities that could be useful. Not to mention, it uses up a lot of the PC's resources.
Pros
- call
- remote access
- video
Cons
- AI features
- reduce resource consumption
Likelihood to Recommend
We used Webex Calling for quite a while especially for after work courses online. Honestly I would've preferred other platforms that we normally use because I'm more used to them and I know how they work. We don't regularly use Webex Calling for internal meetings etc because it's not really our go-to.

if your organization is in a 100% cisco environment, going with cisco Webex Calling makes sense - you can even profit from higher discounts and saving from the enitre portfolio. Especially with the move from legacy on-prem licenses to cloud alternatives. If oyur organization is not a cisco house, you have better options for UC tools.
