Sage Accounting is used for bookkeeping, preparing VAT returns and preparing annual reports, either Income and Expenditure reports or full financial accounts. All staff can log on to Sage Accounting with their own email, and then can access any client's data.
  • The Bank Feeds are excellent for accuracy bank transaction postings
  • Raising sales invoices within Sage Accounting and then sending them to clients directly is very useful
  • Being Cloud based, both my clients and I can access the same live data, meaning I can give them prompt help when they are stuck, and it can let them carry on with their duties
  • Perhaps a customisable dashboard so that when a client logs in, they can see reports or data relevant to them
Sage Accounting is very good for sharing with colleagues, as they don't have to be in the same building as you in order to work on the same client. Colleagues can even work from home, which was very useful a few years ago. Data can easily be exported to a spreadsheet, and us accountants do love a good spreadsheet.

I am a bookkeeper, I do 99% of my client's books on Sage Business Cloud Accounting.
90% of my clients are small (SMME) companies and does not require extremely complex software to run their businesses. Sage Accounting offers them everything they need in order to operate their business efficiently. It is user friendly and not difficult even for my clients to understand if I am unavailable for the day and they need to get the job done ASAP.
  • Customer Documents and Emails sent to customers look professional
  • Sage Accounting customer service is very good and someone always gets back to you
  • The software is easy to navigate and understand
  • Sage Accounting banking is straight forward, easy and it works well
  • Processing VAT is a breeze and convenient
  • Bank Recons are easy and I love it however, you can't find any record on Sage Accounting that you actually did the recon and can download a report afterwards as proof unless you download immediately.
  • The amount of email addresses that you can add to your customers/suppliers are only 100 characters, you can add additional contacts but then they don't receive statements and when you send an invoice, you have to go and specifically select them to be included which sometimes you may forget. There could maybe be 2 places to add emails, one for statements and one for invoices as a lot of companies don't want their statements sent to the same people that get the invoices, if this makes any sense.
  • You can only get a view of your top 10 clients, it would be nice to be able to get a report that has all your clients on but in order of high to low of how much they spend (every month or yearly etc.)
Sage Accounting is well suited for most SMME's especially companies with services, companies that does stock as well however there is a limit, depends on what you need for eg. if you need more of a CRM, sending reminders, assigning job, creating job cards from the quote with all the items that form that service, then Sage Accounting is a bit limited in that regards.

I use Sage Accounting daily to capture all our financial transactions. With the ability to integrate transactions directly from our bank account and write rules to auto-allocate repetitive transactions, capturing transactions has never been so easy. We now can obtain financial information and determine our financial position on a daily basis with a minimum amount of effort. I am recommending this product to our smaller congregations where staff members are not highly trained bookkeepers, because the product is so easy to use and very affordable. Even our lower-skilled office workers find the product user-friendly, and congregations are happy that they can stay informed about their financial standing. With the ability to work online and have multiple users, smaller congregations can give me access to their accounts. This makes it very easy to assist them when required and saves travelling expenses, as our congregations are scattered over three provinces. This is a fantastic, reliable, user-friendly and affordable product that provides you up-to-date information on your finances, but the ability to manage your customers and suppliers as well. I recommend this product to anyone who requires an affordable, user-friendly and comprehensive financial solution.
  • Bank integration - being able to extract banking transaction into Sage Accounting.
  • Allocation rules - transactions are auto-allocated once allocation rules have been set up. This is a great time-saver.
  • Flexibility - the ability to view transactions, click on them to the allocation point and rectifying if required saves having to create journals, and therefore time. General ledgers therefore stay cleaner and more user-friendly.
  • I would like the account list more flexible, so that system accounts (such as bad debts or sales, which we don't use) can be deleted or edited.
  • The addition of a cash-flow statement would be great.
  • It will be great to be able to visualize reports in graph form and be able to print them.
  • Statement formats are not great as our customers can't always determine what amount is due.
  • Our clients pay quarterly, so being able to select the age analysis in periods (monthly, quarterly, six-monthly) would be a plus for us.
Sage Accounting is well suited to our need to quickly and easily capture and allocate banking transactions. The ability to create allocation rules saves a great amount of time. Some of the people in our congregations are not skilled in bookkeeping, and for us this product offers a great solution because it's so user-friendly. We don't claim VAT and we don't have sales as we have membership fees. The pre-setup account list is not suitable to our operation and we can amend it to some extent, but not to the extent we would like to.

We use Sage for our accounting software, with several users. We print our checks, upload our Payroll paid reports. Issues: It is not VPN compatible - or easily. It runs super slow if you do, and customer support will not help you if there are issues. it periodically will freeze or crash. The errors that you get when you are entering and another is running reports at the same time.
  • GL mapping
  • Entering for AR
  • VPN Compatibility
This is great for larger companies, such as ours. Would not be the best for small businesses that are trying to save funds, Sage is not cheap.

We use Sage Accounting for multiple companies. It's easy to use, available anywhere and offers great additional functionality. The bank feeds, in particular, eliminate manual importing of transactions into the system. This saves a lot of time either importing manually or turning the data manually. There's also a magnitude of third-party software accredited by them that plugs into the system to add functionality to the core accounting system.
  • Bank imports.
  • Emailing invoices.
  • Integrations of third party apps.
  • Custom referencing on import of bank statement.
  • Invoice import functionality.
  • Having two different companies open at the same time.
  • Ability to "automatically" post journals affecting other companies on you profile.
  • Improving bank feeds to have at least all transactions processed on the previous day.
It is well suited for companies that require access to their accounting system from anywhere. However, it is not appropriate for companies that process high volumes of transactions.

I've used Sage (prev Peachtree) for over 20 years. It's user friendly and can be customized to your needs. In fact, I pretty much taught myself how to use it with help from the support groups available through Sage. There is always someone there to help you. Sage is very innovative.
  • It is integrated
  • It is customizable
  • User friendly
  • Multiple users
  • Sometimes the delete key doesn't have a double check to ask if you are sure you want to delete. I've had that happen when I meant to hit the "copy" key.
I love the ability to customize to our needs. This may or may not be helpful for some companies. For smaller companies, this software may not be feasible.

We use Sage Accounting for the majority of our business accounting needs. Clients ask us for quotes which are so easy to formulate, and once the job has been done to be able to check the quote and convert it into an invoice is so easy. We have products & services set up with both sales and cost analysis entered, making it easy to see the profit on each quote. To be able to access our accounting from the Cloud makes working from different sites a great option, particularly during Covid when most of us were working from home. Even now some of us work remotely, but it doesn't stop us being able to work efficiently.
  • Sales Quotes to Invoices
  • Purchase Credit Notes
  • Direct import from Bank Accounts
  • Reconciling transfers between bank accounts
  • Editing Sales Invoices after a VAT return has been produced
  • 2 step authentication
I have used Sage Accounting for many years and find it really easy to use. Others don't seem to be so user friendly. It is good that if you do make a mistake it is easy to rectify. The only thing I find a nusiance is not being able to edit Sales invoices after a VAT return has been run. Especially when its something like the reference or details I want to edit and not the date or money.

I recommend Sage to all my clients because it’s so easy to use and works very well with many other Apps. It’s easy to correct an error posting and has great reporting functions.
  • They have excellent customer service. Always answer the phone and offer support until problem resolved.
  • There is a cloud based function that is idea for remote working.
  • Lots of online tutorials.
  • I find it difficult to record journals in cloud accounting. Maybe I just don’t have the knowledge.
  • It’s important to export all unrecorded sync bank transactions to Excel to send to clients to explain the payment receipts before being posted. This function is not available on the cloud and makes life harder, having to call out the transactions to clients over the phone.
It works great with the AutoEntry App. It is easy to make changes after posting.

I run a one-person Limited Company and I was always concerned about being able to keep on top of my accounts, record keeping, invoicing and so on. This became a real concern when MTD (Making Tax Digital) became a requirement as I had to have software for submitting VAT (Value-added tax) returns, and I didn't know which platform to use. Having read the reviews, I chose Sage Accounting and I've found it to be really easy to use and has helped streamline my processes and takes less time that what I was doing before.

I only need the basic Accounting package and it does everything I need. My accountant can access my records, so they like it as well.
  • Invoicing
  • VAT returns
  • Cash flow
  • Profit and Loss statements
  • Reporting - I'd like to be able to compare YTD vs LYTD
  • Reconciling bank accounts - I find this quite tricky
I find being able to generate invoices that are of a required professional standard template that my clients like. Being able to invoice quickly and keep track of when invoices are paid, its been useful getting reminders on the occasions when invoices have gone overdue to enable me to track payments.

Used daily in my work and my own business. Very intuitive, replaced TasBooks2 for me in my business and also Sage Line 50 at my work. Cloud availability is key for me.
  • Bank integration
  • Payment matching
  • Easy set up of opening balances
  • No end-of-year routing
  • Nothing comes to mind at present
I have already introduced it to my Golf Club, I set up the nominals and opening balances and trained the staff in how to use the program. Very suited to a business that does not require stock control via the accounts system. It's also very useful in golf clubs and similar businesses where people involved in the accounts are volunteers and not based in the office. They have the ability through Cloud software to access it from anywhere.

I use Sage Accounting to manage my business finances. I have been using this for around 2 years, prior to this I had been keeping track with spreadsheets, but as the business grew and regulation was brought in I needed to move to something more suitable. Having tried an alternative, I landed on Sage as I found it very easy to get myself onboarded. I had support from the ever-helpful customer service team for answering the question, but honestly, I did not need them as it was pretty intuitive. I usually have to use it a few times a month to carry out key tasks of mine, and it is always a doddle. VAT returns are a breeze, and I get a pretty helpful view of the financial health of my business. I would certainly recommend the product to other small businesses that are starting. It has saved me so much time and heartache. As my business grows, there are additional tools that I can add, but for the moment, what I have is perfect for my needs!
  • Bank Reconciliations.
  • VAT returns.
  • Cash flow.
  • General management of accounts.
  • Speed could be a bit better, feel that loading bank transactions takes a while.
  • Sometimes, I get a bit confused by the order in which the bank transactions are presented, especially if I am looking to do manual reconciliations.
  • Logging onto the website can be a tad confusing. A number of products to pick from, and in the early days, I was unsure of what I should be logging into.
VAT returns are so simple to do. Just a click of a button and it produces a report for the period in concern. Submitting the return is then just a single click. The only thing I wish it would do is remind me when my VAT submissions are coming up so that I can avoid penalties.

Sage Accounting is used daily for the Charity/Business I work for. From day-to-day purchasing entries, Invoicing and financial reporting. All our purchase receipts are now stored electronically in Sage Accounting (no more searching through filing cabinets) or having the auditors send me a list of receipts they want to see. Sales receipts look professional and recurring invoices can be sent automatically, making life so much easier. Using Bank feeds is another great time saver too.
  • Storing purchase receipts with the purchase entries.
  • Recurring invoices.
  • Professional looking invoices.
  • Reporting.
  • Live Bank Feeds
  • Tieing off year end figures, to start a new financial year.
  • Sage and AutoEntry to transfer data to correctly - Invoice box!
  • Ability to use multiple letterheads and banking information on receipts.
  • Easier way of entering and recording of Assets for reporting
Sage accounting is well suited to day-to-day invoicing, recording of purchases and storing of receipts. Excellent at bank reconciliations and reporting. Great for recurring invoicing and the monitoring and reminding of debtors.
Not found anything Sage does not do well.

I use Sage Accounting and Sage Payroll in our international fraternity. On the counsel of our auditors, we transitioned from QuickBooks. • Creditors - particularly useful
  • Reports
  • Stock control - would like simpler options

Every part of Sage interacts to give a succinct report of your business health. This is extremely important as an Entrepreneur as I do not have time to worry where and what is happening with my business on the financial side. As a self employed person, cash flow is critical.

When you're busy it is easy to forget to invoice or to follow up with late payments. The Sage Dashboard has solved this for me.

I'm an engineer, not an accountant so having something that assists me, freeing up time so I can get on with the bread and butter stuff is a winner.

I would have allocated 10/10, but I had to do a little learning (I still am) through the excellent support offered; but it did slow me down in the first few months - mainly because I don't speak accountant!
Sage can seem daunting when you first open it, but even for a novice it is worth the effort for the benefits you get.
  • Traceability - where you are spending. I started with a spreadsheet which had a column for 'electronics & computing' this captured everything from monthly software subscriptions to hardware and from light bulbs to dash cams. Sage has helped me streamline the spending.
  • MTD - I am MTD compliant, although I do not need to be as my accountant is and they complete my HMRC submissions. It does mean that I have a contingency plan if I have to change this service.
  • Debtor's - It is easy to be a busy fool and not realise that accounts are overdue. For a small business, the restriction in cash flow due to late paying clients is a killer. The dashboard feature helps with this.
  • Terminology - I struggled as I do not speak 'accounting' so there was a steep learning curve for me. A prime example would be the Journal functionality, for me a Journal is a diary where notes are written. The addition of a '?' with a short description against titles would have quickened the process. Please note, this is due to me being self-employed, so I had no previous formal accounting training.
  • Template Flexibility - some more options with fonts and image input would be useful. As a business I use 2 fonts 'Candara' and 'Calibri'. Candara is used for titles, this includes the company name and company details. It is frustrating that the corporate styling is not transferable.
Sage is obviously well suited for larger SME's and large businesses. It is suitable for micro and macro businesses if you wish to make the effort to understand your business cash flow fully.
It also offers MTD compatibility which is beneficial if you are VAT registered in the UK, but if you just wish to record 'X' came in and 'Y' went out with a low turnover it is too much.

I recommend Sage Accounting to my clients for so many reasons:- it's good value for money, easy to set and train people, simple to use, creates useful information to make decisions, I can connect as an agent to check progress, it's easy to link to Autoentry and other apps. It's a win win for the client and our business.
  • Bankfeed so all transactions are included
  • Easy to use - simple lay out
  • Useful reports - comparative profit and loss
  • Invoice processing and emailing
  • Statement automation
  • Login wherever there is internet
  • Supplier refund procedure
  • Automated email receipts for payments
I've recommended it to several clients who were in a real mess with their accounts. It has been life changing for them in getting organised and knowing their figures.

Sage Accounting cloud software managed the company's financial books and records. The software suited very well a small business whom needed to keep accurate records of its finances to maintain compliance with the Companies Act. It also served to maintain accurate records to support asset, liability, equity, income and expense record which supported the company's financial performance. The software had facility for multiple users with different levels of access, and also provided useful reports and dashboards which could be scrutinised by management.
  • Customer and supplier ledger data review is easily done in comparison in particular to Xero. Ledger types are separated rather than combined as 'contacts'.
  • The format of the data presented is clear, both on screen and reporting in multiple formats
  • MTD facility to operate VAT reporting in line with HMRC requirements
  • Bank reconciliation is easily performed, using the 'bank feed' function
  • Automated processes are brilliant, such as uploading purchase invoices or expenses
  • Menu structure is straightforward, and easy for users to navigate
  • Adding notes to customer and supplier ledgers with regards communications
  • Making it easier to change from one VAT scheme to another, when company's grow and need to move away from cash accounting
  • Users creating their own reports
Sage Accounting is well suited to small business who do not have high volumes of data, and chart of accounts are fairly simplistic in their structure. Different versions of Sage Accounting products should be considered when these criteria become relevant. Sage Accounting is also well suited for businesses who operate solely in the cloud.

We use Sage Accounting all day every day! It is super efficient for us and our clients to collate the data and the bank feeds which typically is an issue at year end, with live data it allows us to work in year and clients aren't faced with any shocking surprises. It is also really user-friendly so we are always recommending it.
  • How up to date the live bank feed is
  • Navigation around the website
  • Customer service
  • Bank feed matches to be more accurate
Clients have significantly improved their understanding of their accounts and businesses due to Sage Accounting's comparative trial balance report. This allows clients to choose the period they want to compare and see various ratios which helps them to identify the biggest costs and where they're spending their money! This has allowed clients to be more prepared to save for taxes.

Sage Accounting is used as the full accounting suite for our day to day accounting. this encaptures, Bank, Suppliers and Customers.

The bank feed ensures reconciling the bank and having that confidence is very easy and allows more time then to look at the value adding areas of accountancy.

Sage Accounting is constantly updating with new features and reports which help to take a step back from a transactional level and allow a more analytical approach. This is helped further by Sage Accounting making the day to day transactions quick and efficient to post.

There is the ability to run reports as CSV files and then you can manipulate these however you wish, I use this function for the management accounts by exporting the trial balance, feeding this into my excel file and then this auto populates the accounts.
  • Bank Feeds - Seamless integration with bank to ensure no keying of transactions and thus less scope for error.
  • Bank Reconciliations - Due to the bank feeds these are quick and easy.
  • Dashboards - Easy to see at a glance who is owed and indeed who owes us. These are regularly updated and can be tailored to ensure you're seeing what is most important to you.
  • Always room for improvement on reporting
  • Further integration and simpler intergration with bank feeds. Some banks work very easily and simply, but others can be more complicated.
Sage Accounting is good for small to medium sized businesses. It's more focused on being simple to use and intuitive for business owners than for example Sage Line 50. I'd say it works well for businesses that don't necessarily have the accounting knowledge and experience that I'd say is essential to have from Sage Line 50.

It's great for sole-traders and small limited companies.

All accounting activities are through Sage Accounting, including purchases, sales VAT returns, Payroll. My Accountants have access as well, to speed up Annual Accounting and Audits. Only real business problem is to ensure accurate records for our Accounts, HMRC returns and Annual reporting requirements. All of which Sage Accounting makes simplier and gives me confidence that I am doing all that I should as accurately as possible. Having my Accountants use the same software, reduces the cost of my bill at the end of the year, I can also quickly seek advice from them when I have any issues that need correcting. Its a great tool to have.
  • VAT Return

Linking me up with external Accountants is great. The Quarterly VAT return to HMRC is so simple and easy to do. I can't think of anything where it is 'less appropriate', but I have a lot of experience with SAP applications, which are horrendous. Sage Accounting is far superior.

  • Basic options not available, you can not change payment terms for debtors or creditors only option is 30 days and statements do not break it down into pay periods
  • editing anything whether reconciled or not is painful
  • When data was carried over from Sage 50 accounts it was the basic info, all 490 customers accounts needed individually opening and statement preferences confirming, payment terms agreeing etc etc - no quick way to do all at once
  • Some nom codes have changed and some you are no longer able to use in Bank accounts purchases / sales etc. Some no-longer exist. this makes management accounts using the profit and lose data a nightmare
  • no favourites options for debtor / creditors lists and reports as there is only 1 option for all
This is probably suitable for anyone who is using a accounting package for the first time and only needs the basic requirements. It is definitely not suitable for anyone migrating over from Sage 50 Accounts as it doesn't do a fraction of what you could do before. The website is slow and looks like it was built for a child. It has caused no end of issues and wasted hours of time having to re-set everything up if it allows, as I said it it the most basic accounts package I have ever seen or used.

Sage Business Cloud Accounting is currently being used by our accounting department only. It is currently only being used as our general ledger and financial report creator. We run invoices, and bills through Intacct but use a third party in code bills and a third party to pay bills.
  • The new bank rec is highly efficient when hooked up directly to your bank account.
  • The bill pay features and the accompanying workflow are particularly easy to use
  • Sage also allows a create collaborative workflow while working in either a small or large team.
  • Fixed assets needs some serious work. I don't even think the fixed assets module is native to Sage, they're all 3rd party bolt ons
  • Reporting could also be improved. We don't currently subscribe to custom reporting which is an additional add on, but the standard report writer is very difficult to use
Sage is great for larger organizations who may have multiple locations or large accounting departments. The modules are well separated so that proper accounting controls can be maintained. On the other hand, if you have a small accounting department as we do, the amount of features and controls can be overwhelming. We have to navigate through all the modules, so learning all the ins and outs of everything takes a lot of time and maintenance as things change on a quarterly basis.
