Overall Satisfaction with Sage Accounting

I use Sage Accounting daily to capture all our financial transactions. With the ability
to integrate transactions directly from our bank account and write rules to
auto-allocate repetitive transactions, capturing transactions has never been so
easy. We now can obtain financial information and determine our
financial position on a daily basis with a minimum amount of effort.

I am recommending this product to our smaller congregations where staff members are not highly trained
bookkeepers, because the product is so easy to use and very affordable. Even our lower-skilled office workers find the product
user-friendly, and congregations are happy that they can stay informed about
their financial standing.

With the ability to work online and have multiple users, smaller congregations can give me access
to their accounts. This makes it very easy to assist them when
required and saves travelling expenses, as our congregations are scattered over
three provinces.

This is a fantastic, reliable, user-friendly and
affordable product that provides you up-to-date
information on your finances, but the ability to manage your customers and
suppliers as well.

I recommend this product to anyone who requires an
affordable, user-friendly and comprehensive financial solution.

Pros

  • Bank integration - being able to extract banking transaction into Sage Accounting.
  • Allocation rules - transactions are auto-allocated once allocation rules have been set up. This is a great time-saver.
  • Flexibility - the ability to view transactions, click on them to the allocation point and rectifying if required saves having to create journals, and therefore time. General ledgers therefore stay cleaner and more user-friendly.

Cons

  • I would like the account list more flexible, so that system accounts (such as bad debts or sales, which we don't use) can be deleted or edited.
  • The addition of a cash-flow statement would be great.
  • It will be great to be able to visualize reports in graph form and be able to print them.
  • Statement formats are not great as our customers can't always determine what amount is due.
  • Our clients pay quarterly, so being able to select the age analysis in periods (monthly, quarterly, six-monthly) would be a plus for us.
  • Productivity has improved.
  • Skills levels of lower-skilled workers has improved.
  • Being able to work with a user-friendly product has had a positive impact on the morale of the staff working in bookkeeping and accounting positions.
  • The ability to work online and therefore anywhere has decreased stress levels.
I used a commercial version of QuickBooks in the past and it suited my needs then. I have not used QuickBooks as intensively as I use Sage. I just preferred Sage at the time because, after evaluating demo versions of both solutions, it simply suited my and the entity's needs better.

Yes

Did implementation of Sage Accounting go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Sage Accounting again?

Yes

Sage Accounting is well suited to our need to quickly and easily capture and allocate banking transactions. The ability to create allocation rules saves a great amount of time. Some of the people in our congregations are not skilled in bookkeeping, and for us this product offers a great solution because it's so user-friendly. We don't claim VAT and we don't have sales as we have membership fees. The pre-setup account list is not suitable to our operation and we can amend it to some extent, but not to the extent we would like to.
