Please provide some detailed examples of areas where New Relic has room for improvement.

From 7 reviews | Last Published May 27, 2026

Reviewers frequently identified several areas where New Relic could enhance its product, primarily concerning user experience, performance, and feature scope. A notable concern, raised by four of seven reviewers, centers on the usability of the UI and dashboard creation process, with specific difficulties reported in building customized dashboards and navigating query-based widgets. Closely related, three reviewers expressed frustration with the performance of NRQL queries, noting significant delays in data retrieval and dashboard loading times. Beyond these core usability and performance issues, the platform's distributed tracing capabilities were cited by two reviewers as an area needing expansion, as current support is perceived as limited to specific services. Furthermore, two reviewers indicated that New Relic's pricing model, particularly its per-host structure, is becoming a cost concern, especially for expanding deployments or IoT device fleets.

UI and Dashboard Usability

building tailored dashboards with organ-specific metrics (such as energy load variance across regions) can be difficult to navigate. The UI isn't as drag-and-drop easy, and query-based widgets typically involve some trial and error for non-devs.

Performance of NRQL Queries

NRQLs of New Relic taking too much time to show the data, so I believe Relic can improve on this. As NRQLs are playing a big role in New Relic which helps us to show the data, but due to its slow performance it is taking to much time to create any valid dashboard.

Distributed Tracing Capabilities

The distribution system of New Relic, currently it is available for APM and browser only so it will be helpful if we can put this feature in other services also.
