Reviews
(1-25 of 151)- Engagement campaigns
- Integration with Salesforce
- Metrics. I'd like to be able to more easily dig deeper into the granular data (i.e. click rates for a specific link within an email without having to export the csv file)
- Better reporting
- Design Studio provides a easy-to-use and highly customizable platform for the creation of unique landing pages, emails, and other branded assets.
- Smart Campaigns make it easy to build and batch campaigns, manage, nurture, and score contacts, and automate several marketing processes
- Analytics allow you to analyze the performance of multiple Programs and engagement streams in relation to each other
- Analytics are comprehensive but the ease of use is lacking. There is a strong learning curve for new users or those new to the Adobe product ecosystem.
- User experience of sorting through Smart Lists and customizing field + column layout is a bit clunky
- It can be difficult to track form submissions by individual at an aggregate level.
- Provides real time updates to contacts information for marketing and sales teams.
- Serves well in the billing department for fully automating electronic bill sending.
- Offers an intuitive email editor and dynamic content options.
- Overall a good product.
- Support is slow to respond to technical issues.
- Should improve their support response time.
- Learning Marketo can be challenging, but their vast resources and documentation does make the process easier.
Marketo expertise is a career shaper

Adobe Marketo Engage Review
- I think Marketo does a lot of things particularly well as it pertains to email and having the ability to really get very detailed and particular for very different use cases. It kind of has the ability to do everything. You have to learn how to do it yourself, but it does enable you to really do any sort of email marketing campaigns in any fashion, in any sort of journey that you need. So it's very customizable.
- I think training and ease of use. There's a very large learning curve. I think getting some of our marketers up and running on Marketo takes typically a very long process just to get them fully trained on even just sending emails. It's one of the more difficult ESPs I've ever used. It functions great and it has a lot of features available, but just learning all of those features takes a lot of time. I'm a power user and I've been on the product for six years now and there's still a lot about the product that I don't know and that I'm still learning. So I think you just have to have a very technical mindset to be able to use the product when a lot of people are more marketers and just not used to doing some more customizable really tech oriented roles.
Marketo - Best in Class
Marketo has a large platform eco-system and integrates well with many different applications. We currently integrate Marketo with Salesforce, Slack, On24, Splash, and others.
We use Marketo to move people through the buyer's journey with scoring and/or hand raising and move people into different revenue stages. This allows us to qualify prospects before passing them to sales.
We connect our routing/assignment with Salesforce which allows us to provide a seamless hand off to our sales team.
- Scoring - Marketo has a system that is flexible. It allows you to create a very customized scoring model.
- Buyers Journey - Marketo has many features that allow for you to create a customized buyers journey. Scoring, revenue stages, ability to 'stamp' data in various fields (for tracking) allows you to create a very specific buyers journey for your buyer.
- Integration with CRM - Marketo integrates really well with so many different applications. It's native sync with Salesforce makes it an even more powerful tool
- Because of its complexity and ability to be customized, Marketo has a longer learning curve and requires a dedicated admin.
If you need to customize your buyer's journey, create specific scoring, be able to trigger off of almost anything that you create, and be able to seamlessly integrate with your CRM, Marketo is the best tool.
- Customized lead scoring
- Scalable buyer journeys
- Engagement programs (lead nurturing)
- Newsletter style one off email campaigns
- Personalization
- Email Scripting
- User Experience can be improved a bit. When I click anywhere before the smart list gets saved, the screen freezes and we have to manually refresh the window to fix that. That is sometimes so annoying.
- Icons should be updated. A glossary of icons should be provided within the platform as well
- The product misses on the ability to add custom object records via smart campaign flow
- Usage of tokens should be enabled in the smart list
- Target Account Management should be updated with better reporting capabilities as they charge extra for that module above and beyond the base subscription
Marketo for marketing
- Easy UI for staff
- Integration with Salesforce
- web forms for websites
- Connection with GA
- Plugins that other automation tools readily provide like Pardot
- new features are slow to come by
We needed it for events comms too but it didnt fit our needs.
However it's not so good for tracking visitors through GA on websites
- Email Sends
- Reporting
- Personalization
- Lead Management
- CRM Sync
- Custom Buyer Journey Setup
- Segmentations
- User Interface could be improved a bit
- Resources should be made more practical oriented; the documentation is text heavy and difficult to go through for new users
- Support team should be more responsive
Dated UI and email template language but does the job
- Email campaigns
- Design and preview email templates
- Create and save users for testing emails
- Unintuitive UI
- Dated Velocity Templating Language
Good CRM for larger organisations
- Lead Nurturing
- Website forms
- Progressive profiling
- The UI is not the best
- Load times for big data sets
- UX improvements
Good List Management and Email Calendaring
- Good Analytics on email sends.
- Database management and segmentation.
- WYSIWYG HTML to prepare emails.
- Lead scoring.
- Better Dashboard.
- Easier setup and segmentation of lists.
- Easier integration with Salesforce.
Replacement for Sharpspring and integration with Dynamics.
- Ease of implementation.
- Creating templates.
- Automations
- Analytics
- Integration with Adobe Creative Cloud.
Overall good program but needs design and interface changes to make things easier.
- Easy editor
- Good analytics
- Easy to download analytics
- needs better interface
- needs better way to find what you need
- it is too hard to find what you need
Behind Competition. Missing Key Features & UI Straight Out of 2004
- In my opinion, Adobe Marketo Engage does a phenomenal job at confusing new users. It easily has the highest learning curve compared to its competitors and is a great challenge for anyone used to modern interface design.
- Adobe Marketo Engage is easily the main focus of my daily workload. Does it need to be? Not exactly. But, I feel it does a phenomenal job at making a simple task take much longer than it should.
- Adobe Marketo Engage is an awesome throw-back for anyone who misses the elegance of early-2000s database software. Is it pretty? In my opinion, no. Is it easy to use? In my experience, no. But when there aren't random lag spikes causing pages to take 30 seconds to load, the interface is surprisingly snappy and responsive (thanks, of course, to the simplicity of its early-2000s interface).
- In my opinion, the interface is atrocious. You'd think Adobe-designed software would be at the cutting edge of interface development, but I feel there isn't a single competitor who has a higher learning curve. Not only is it unintuitive, but, in my opinion, it doesn't have any semblance of design standards. It seems the Marketo Engage marketing team is literally embarrassed by the design, being that it crops down the interface in almost every product shot.
- Everything - and I mean everything - is overcomplicated. There is a fine line between allowing companies to have control in their organization and formatting conventions and putting up guardrails so things don't end up a clustered mess. It seems the Marketo Engage development team didn't want to implement any guardrails whatsoever. Except, of course, in my opinion, the terrible implementation of templates. I understand the desire to create organizational standards for corporate communications, but that does not mean restricting literally everything but face-level changes. The template landing page development experience is probably the worst time I've ever had in "web development." It would make a world of difference if it were like the email designer -- which, in itself, has issues.
- I'm not sure the Email Designer can even be called WYSIWYG. Your email will look great in the designer and in previews, but don't expect to be done when you finish designing it. You're only half the way there. You have another hour or two just trying to figure out why Outlook, Gmail, and every other email program renders your email differently. It'd be nice to have on-screen warnings when you do something that won't be supported and by which program. For that matter, the entire designer should be built to improve your email. Give feedback when there's "spam words" in the copy. Auto-generate subject line suggestions based on the copy using words and formatting that is proven to increase clicks.
- The ability to send email campaigns based on time zones is great, but there's absolutely no intelligence when a data scientist could have a field day with all the fantastic open-and-click data. Multiple competitors use send time optimization and intelligent, personalized send time features to make sure you inbox exactly when needed.
- In my opinion, there's no intelligence to Adobe Marketo Engage. It does what it is supposed to do, but that's it. There are no improvement recommendations (anywhere!), and it doesn't utilize the mountain of engagement data it has to further drive and increase metrics. There are a ton of opportunities here that are just being overlooked.

I like it enables us to create robust marketing sales channel, manage marketing campaigns, create a manage marketing forms and landing pages, track our campaigns success easily.
I like the LaunchPoint functionality which enables us to integrate Marketo with mltiple platforms such as LinkedIn, LeadGen, Facebook Ads, and 6Sense.
Just like any other tool it requires skilled or user to undergo the learning curve, it's a great campaign management tool with maximum capabilities.
- Adobe Marketo Engage allows us to build suitable marketing sales prospects, organise marketing campaigns design marketing apps, and sales funnel.
- Measure the effectiveness of our campaigns, and establish the correct flows to permit almost any feature.
- The Marketo Launch Point functionalities allows us to interface it with a variety of system and tools like social media, and have a prospect data filled immediately into our program.
- Steep learning curve, it takes real effort to study and comprehend the features to get the best out of it.
- Also data segmentation may get extremely puzzling while using many filters.
I like the support team very quickly to respond quickly to all our challenges and resolve any problems easily.
