Great Customer Service, Not The Best Product On The VoIP Market

We made the switch to GoToConnect from RingCentral as a cost-cutting measure. The company seemed to offer many of the same features as RingCentral for a better value. Once we made the switch, one of the first things I realized is that the feature to receive images via SMS was not a functionality supported by GoToConnect but one that was very important within our organization as it was one of the primary ways we communicated with merchants. So, in that respect, it created one of the many new issues for our organization.

  • The GoToConnect app in the Apps Market is very poor quality.
  • Inability to sync messages between (the former) Jive app and GoToConnect
  • GoToConnect constantly disconnecting from the network. This wasn't an issue we had with RingCentral.
  • The inability of GoToConnect to support images via SMS message. We've had to revert back to having merchants send images to our support inbox.
  • Text messages not successfully being sent.
  • Unresponsive/delayed response from dial pad within the GoToConnect application.
The ability to have video conferences is a great functionality offered through GoToConnect. I would most definitely recommend it due to the quality of the audio and connection when utilizing this feature. The GoToConnect app offered in the apps market isn't the best option if you are needing to take calls while on the go.

We originally switched to GoTo Connect from another phone system because they include soft phones (phone app) for free. Our previous company charged us extra if we wanted the soft phones. Since the pandemic our team entirely uses the GoTo Connect app and have all stopped using the desk phones that were originally provided to us.
  • The mobile app works well
  • PBX is really user friendly and customizable
  • We love that we can customize our ringtones and hold music
Cons
  • It seems that they haven't fully transitioned away from Jive because the PBX sometimes loads the Jive version and other times loads the GoTo Connect version. I think I like the GoTo Connect version better but I can never figure out what the URL is for that version
For employees who do a lot of phone calls this has been helpful so that they can keep their work calls separate from personal calls.

We use GoToConnect for our corporate office phones, as well as teleconference line, call forwarding to those outside of our office, directories, etc.

We've had multiple problems with GOTO. Every day we have customers put on hold in the system because we are unable to answer the call. Error messages appear on virtually every call that comes in . We have remote users and each and everyone is experiencing the same problems. We have not gotten out of onboarding which was started in January and still as of March 15 am not out of onboarding. I have filed a complaint with the attorney generals office and am awaiting an answer. I want out of the contract and they won't let us out. Their system does not function properly from my experience. We have videos and pictures of all the errors that are happening and still they can't fix it and they won't let us out of the contract. Horrible service.

They should not be in the VOIP business in my opinion. I believe they cannot find solutions or will not find solutions to problems we are having. Trying to point back to our agents or our internet. We had had a VOIP system prior to swapping to them and it worked much better than GOTO. It had it's problems, but I'd take them back right now if I could get out of GoTo Connect's agreement.

GoTo Connect was able to combine individual business needs for our stores, our call center, and remote workers into one seamless application. While we faced some challenges because our business was unique, GoTo Connect has been helpful in finding ways to have our needs met, and they are continuing to upgrade their services. Our business is unique in a way where we have public stores that have a different way of fielding calls than our call center does. With the use of dial plans, GoTo Connect Contact Center, ring groups, and more, we were able to move all our needs to their company.

GoTo Connect works really well for standard business models and call centers, but if you have specific needs in a unique company like ours, you may need to experiment with what they have so it works for you and your company. For our company, we have multiple brands and there are some features in the contact center that are missing or a disadvantage when you have multiple brands.
