We use D&B to qualify subcontractors and vendors to make a decision on whether we'd like to do business with them. This addresses our concerns with their financial stability, longevity, and legal issues they may have had with other companies. Our use case is within the construction industry so there is a lot of risk with our subcontractors and suppliers as to whether or not they can perform their work well and whether they will be able to complete the work depending on their financial status. Being able to see this information mitigates the potential risk that might fall on our company if we were to work with a risky business.
  • Graphs & Charts to visualize data
  • Detailed legal history
  • Company facts overall & public information consolidation
Cons
  • Consolidation of companies with multiple names/fictitious business names
  • See relation to parent/holding companies within summary
  • Show more detailed information on ownership
Most cases in particular where D&B has been beneficial to our company is to see that a company has been involved in legal suits with other companies doing the same type of work as us. The visibility of seeing this allows us to see that a particular company has a history of bad faith in this industry with similar contractors, which we can then investigate further if necessary or make a choice to avoid doing business with them. Using D&B to qualify our vendors is appropriate in every case.
  • Risk Mitigation
  • Knowledge of potential risks when entering into contracts
  • Indirect positive effect on jobsite productivity
This allows us to make an analysis on our vendors' history and overall business standpoint when it comes to paying their lower tiers and material suppliers. We do not want to enter into business with anyone who has historically been late to pay/failed to pay those who they do business with as this creates more risk and possibility of delays/failures etc.
Unfortunately I do not have much to say on this topic as when I started to use D&B analytics three years ago my company had already implemented the program as one of it's primary qualification tools. Since I had never used D&B before I found that it was very easy and straightforward to navigate, learn and understand.
We do not use any other programs that I'm aware of, all other methods of verifying for us are based on public information and conversations we have with businesses, their references and banking institutions. I think this speaks for itself as we haven't seen the need to use any other programs with these tools alongside D&B
I've rarely had to reach out to the D&B support team but when I have, and the correct contact information was made available to me, the process was extremely easy. I was able to get in touch with our rep quickly and get the answers and resolutions that I needed.

Contracts team uses D&B to evaluate subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, etc. We also use it to perform subcontractor qualification reviews prior to selecting with lower tier subcontractors or partners we would like to work with. Dun & Bradstreet plays a significant role in our decision making process. Our estimating teams and risk management teams use D&B as well for the same purposes.
I'm not sure what this question means.

We pull D&B reports to analyze financial data on our subcontractors in support of Prime Gov't Contracts. It is beneficial to see up front whether our vendors are low, medium or high risk. We pull these once a year to stay up to date on all our vendors financial risk.
  • Easy to pull data
  • Easy to understand
  • Easy to read
Cons
  • The new interface can be a little confusing with the change in some of the report names
  • simplify report options
  • summarize report on first page
It is a great report to get a good idea of a companies financial data. Our company submits bids on government solicitations so we use Dun and Bradstreet reports to evaluate the financial risk of all our contractors over the simplified acquisition threshold. Contractors over the SAT present more risk which is why D&B is so important.
  • Positive impact by allowing our company to get a visual into the company we may do business with
  • Positive impact to allow multiple pulls
  • Positive impact to ROI
The immediate availability of these D&B reports allows us to pull risk analyses as needed to assist with urgent government requests. This helps our company analyze each subcontractors financial risk so we are not caught in the middle of a contract with payment and support issues. We pull these once a year.
I was not involved in the implementation and deployment of D & B Finance Analytics and I have no insight to provide how D & B Finance Analytics helped our credit and collections team increase efficiency and reduce risk because I am not involved in that process. Our finance and accounting teem handle these issues.
I have not used other D & B Finance Analytics in the past there fore i am unable to provide a response of how d & b finance analytics stacks up against them nor am i able to provide a pros and cons list for this question. I wish i could provide more insight
On multiple occasions when I have forgotten my password I select forgot password for it to send me a reset password link. However, the system never sends me the reset password link then i am forced to personally reach out to D&B customer service which takes days to get back to my request!

D&B Finance Analytics is utilized by the Contracts and Procurement team in our organization. We use this report to run a financial check on our potential and current vendors to ensure we can trust them. We have two associates assigned who manage the D&B financial analytics account. They determine usage reports and pricing quantities.
  • Vendor management
  • Vendor Finances
  • Vendor prospects
  • Get a full company profile
  • Full profile outside of simple paydex scores
  • Credit checks
  • bankruptcy check
  • overall financial check
D&B Finance Analytics reports have just about everything. You can see a full company profile including legal forms, history records, employee count, years in business, paydex scores, delinquency scores, viability ratings, state of incorporations, naics codes, CEO or business owner names, etc. There is a lot that pulls up in this report.
Not Sure
  • Ease of Use
  • Other
I believe the main factor in our organizations decision to purchase is that Dun and Bradstreet is the named business to use these reports in government contracting.
I am not involved in the evaluation and selection process for the D&B Financial Analytics.
  • Implemented in-house
  • I did not encounter issues with implementation
I was not involved with implementation. I believe we only use the web version so no issues.
  • No Training
The online training was worth it. We did an online training with our team and an account rep from D&B. They walked us through the entire interface and answered all of our questions.
The product was fairly easy to use without training! I would recommend the training to others so you get a full idea of the capabilities of the prodcut!
I am not sure. I have not needed to configure D&B.
No- I have not needed to configure D&B.
No - we have not done any customization to the interface
No - we have not done any custom code
I do not have any additional configuration or customization to mention.
I don't think we have premium support based on our usage.
Yes
I was having issues with resetting my password to my account. I would not get the email so I had to work through customer service. It would take a long time to hear back from customer service, but we have an account rep. that would assist in moving the issue.
A couple years ago when D&B finance analytics moved to the new "platform"/"Interface". It was a bit confusing for me at first, but our account rep. assisted me with a walk through of the upgrade and personally helped me understand.
  • Running the reports
  • searching entities
  • Choosing which report you need
  • determining whether you need HQ report or not
Overall D&B Finance Analytics is user friendly. It look some getting used to with the upgrade change a couple years ago, but once you nagivate through that it is ok. It's pretty easy to search by company name or duns # if you already have that handy. The reports have a full analysis of the company with lots of information in the company profile.
I gave this rating because I've never had an issue with the flexibility and scalability of the software.
I've never had any issues with the availability of D&B. Whenever I've needed to run a report on a company, it has always been available.
I rate the performance very good. The report loads quickly and downloads in a reasonable time frame given the extensive complexity of the report. I've never had an issue.
  • None to my knowledge
Our organization has not attempted to integrate D&B Finance analytics.
  • None to my knowledge
There are no other systems we plan to integrate with D&B analytics.
  • File import/export
None.
No issues with the ease of integration of D&B. We use the web version.
No advice- Our organization uses the web version and I have no issues!
I was not involved in the sales process with D&B.
Still pretty easy to work with! I've had an issue or two over the years and was always helped quickly when I would reach out to our D&B account rep.
I was not involved with sales.

I use D&B as a prescreening for potential customers on a daily basis. Sometimes I find it hard due to multiple finds on the request to distinguish the correct customer I am looking for. However, it sometimes comes in handy to see if the customer is operating under multiple identities.
  • Reports bankruptcies.
  • Reports adp's
  • Gives good advice on credit limit suggestions.
Cons
  • getting the correct legal name and titles of the president/cfo's.
  • The search engine seems to get confused if you put all available information in the address, phone number and etc., on advanced search. This usually produces no usable customer information or makes it unable to find the customer you are looking for.
  • have more information for outlying countries such as mexico and canada.
D&B is well suited when deciding if a potential customer is credit-worthy. D&bB. It is less well suited in foreign countries.
  • Improve cash flow by sorting out the credit worthy customers.
The analytics of bankruptcies, app, and credit line suggestions weigh heavily on how we proceed with a potential customer.
My answer would be the same as the last question.
They work hand in hand in our process. question will not allow me to go past this point because I entered our insurance company Coface,
I have not needed help.

CREDIT/NO CREDIT ANALYSIS

Use d & b analytics to check on a potential new customers credit history and record of payments to determine if we feel they are credit worthy and use the recommended credit limit as a possible starting base to assign credit limit. New risk assessment is also helpful. The d & b alerts are also helpful for business that are at risk due to down trends. It is also useful if we are unsure on whether to give a customer credit or increase that credit when we ask them for financials and advise that there is not enough information to go on from just the D & B.
  • RISK ASSESSMENT
  • PAYMENT HISTORY
  • CORPORATE AND OTHER BUSINESS LINKS ASSOCIATED WITH A PARTICULAR COMPANY
  • SHOWS THE CORPORATE LINKS TO OTHER COMPANIES, i. e. SUBSIDIARIES OR DBA NAMES THAT ARE USED BUT STILL PART OF THE SAME COMPANY.
  • ALSO VERY HELPFUL TO SEE IF A COMPANY IS OWNED BY A A FOREIGN PARENT ESPECIALLY AS WE ARE STARTING TO EXTEND OUR OWN GLOBAL FOOTPRINT OUT MORE.
Cons
  • The only thing I feel that may possibly needs to be reviewed or improved is the information provided on your alerts because when alert says unable to confirm active operations at a particular site, it basically does not allow you to see any of the previous history for that location.
  • IT WOULD BE MOST HELPFUL IF IT PROVIDED ADDITIONAL INFORMATION MORE SPECIFIC THAN LOCATION APPEARS TO BE CLOSED DUE TO NON-ACTIVITY. PERHAPS INFORMATION ON THE MAIN PARENT OR ANOTHER SHIP TO LOCATION WOULD BE USEFUL SO THAT WE KNOW THEY ARE STILL ACTUALLY IN BUSINESS.
Well suited to provide a baseline credit limit based on the max credit limit recommended and to either increase or decrease the credit limits of customers. Not as helpful when it says unable to confirm active operations and any previous history is not shown. Perhaps checking for a DBA or other corporate link for some of these companies might be helpful since sometimes it is only a specific location and not necessarily the entire company.

  • IMPROVE CASH FLOW
It has helped us improve ourDSO and potential risk factors for assigning credit or increasing/decreasing credit limits which has a direct impact on how we approach receivables management.
It has helped us improve our dso and potential risk factors for assigning credit or increasing/decreasing credit limits which has a direct impact on how we approach receivables management.
D & b is the only product that we have used and it suits are needs and provides the data that we are seeking.
Any issues that I have ever contacted support about have always been handled rather quickly whether it Is help with not being able to log in or system just not working or pulling up information.

There have been multiple attempts from other vendors such as Bill Trust and/or Experian wanting us to switch to their products but
even though we have reviewed those options they don't stack up to what we get with D & B......especially in price.
I think the biggest thing would be in the pricing. Not sure if D & B offers the ability to setup up customer's automatically with an adjustable credit limit automatically based on the reports pulled. We are trying to turn around our timeframe from customer submitting credit application to actual time account is setup which sometimes has been several weeks because we have to send out references and wait for their return only to sometimes end up not giving them credit but keeping them as a credit card account. If D & B had a process whereby
the customer could automatically submit their references or have them sent out from within the program it might help speed things up.
Wondering if there would be another possibility of integrating it with say Experian so get additional information since not all companies report to D & B.

WATCHED VIDEO ON HOW TO USE.
I can't say for certain if Premium Support was purchased or not since I was not involved in the selection of this Software but
I would assume that we did since we seem to have unlimited access.
They have been a few occassions when I've been unable to sucessfully pull a D & B Report and have had to call
our contact person who in turn pulled the reports and emailed them to me until my problem was resolved.
That is always very helpful since we try for a 24-48 hour turnaround time on new credit applications.
  • EASE OF FINDING MOST COMPANIES INCLUDING INTERNATIONAL ONES
  • THE MAX CREDIT RECOMMENDATIONS ARE HELPFUL
  • PAYMENT PATTERNS ARE HELPFUL
  • LARGE CORPORATE LINKAGE TREES TAKE A WHILE TO LOAD
  • IT WOULD BE NICE TO JUST BE ABLE TO PULL UP A BRANCH WITHOUT AUTOMATICALLY BRIGING UP THE MAIN BILL TO/PARENT ACCOUNT. SOMETIMES i ONLY WANT TO LOOK AT THE BRANCH ONLY.
IT IS EASY TO USE. THE UPGRADE FROM JUST REGULAR D & B TO THE ANALYTICS HAS BEEN GREAT AS IT PROVIDES MORE DETAILED INFORMATION FOR RISK FACTORS, VIABILITY, ETC.
AT THIS PARTICULAR TIME, WE ONLY USE IT TO MAKE A DETERMINATION ON CREDIT.
NO OTHER DEPARTMENTS HAVE ACCESS TO PROGRAM OTHER THAN ACCOUNTING.
FOR THE MOST PART IT IS ALWAYS AVAILABLE. ON RARE OCCASSIONS i HAVE TROUBLE ACCESSING BUT AFTER I SUBMIT AN ISSUE IT IS CORRECTED.
5--PAGES TEND TO LOAD SLOWLY MORE OFTEN THAN NOT. IT IS A PROBLEM I NOTICE MORE OFTEN WHEN THERE ARE EXTREMELY LARGE CORPORATE LINKAGES.

CAME IN FROM ONE MORNING TO THE NEXT AND FOUND THAT WE HAD BEEN UPGRADED. WHAT WAS NOT IMMEDIATELY NOTED WAS THAT THE OLD WEBSITE TO LOG IN WOULD NO LONGER WORK. TOOK SEVERAL DAYS TO BE ABLE TO GET INTO IT AFTER THE TRANSITION.
  • MORE DETAILED INFORMATION
  • FAILURE RISK LEVEL AND EXPLANATIONS ARE MORE INFORMATION
  • FASTER LOADING OF LARGER TREES.
  • MORE CREDIT INFORMATION. PERHAPS A WAY TO LINK TO OTHER PROGRAMS SUCH AS EXPERIAN FOR ADDITIONAL DETAILS WOULD BE MOST HELPFUL.
