Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication
Veeam is used for VM and file level recovery across the whole enterprise. While storage based replication is our primary mechanism for DR, we'd be able to meet our RTOs and RPOs using Veeam replication and instant VM recovery as well. Currently, Veeam provides an alternative backup type/media in addition to our storage based replication and is our primary mechanism for individual file level recovery as well as longer term recovery of individual files or whole VMs.
Pros
- Support is helpful and responsive
- Works well/reliable
- Feature rich
Cons
- Experienced some finger pointing between Veeam and EMC in the past regarding troubleshooting for the Data Domain DD Boost feature integration
- Veeam generally runs well and is reliable, so not a big drain on admin resources to deal with issues
- Allows businesses to meet varying RTOs and RPOs
- Affordable compared to other competition on the market
I spent years "dealing" with Symantec Backup Exec prior to using Veeam. Countless hours were wasted troubleshooting jobs failing, issues after upgrading, etc. The amount of time spent troubleshooting and caring/feeding the backup solution is much lower with Veeam. It's simple and intuitive to use.
