Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Slack for both internal and external collaboration. Slack is where nearly all of our internal team communication and collaboration happens. We are a Salesforce consultancy, so we also use Slack to communicate with Salesforce team members (Sales, Product) as well as clients.

Pricing - unfortunately we have had to reduce our license count due to a pricing model that doesn't make sense for our use case.
I wish the mobile app layout better matched the desktop app.

Return on Investment

For our internal users, the license cost makes sense.
For our community of experts, the license cost became unmanageable, and we had to reduce our license count. The way licenses were recognized changed, and it negatively impacted our ROI.

Usability

Very usable, training not really necessary, although adoption strategy would be useful and helpful for most organizations implementing or using Slack.

Likelihood to Recommend

Slack is well suited for team collaboration for implementation projects. It's great for realtime collaboration and discussion, however, it's very easy for it to be overwhelming and hard to keep track of action items if you can't respond right away. A unified task list might be nice. We continue to use Salesforce Chatter to collaborate on specific records in Salesforce, although, I could see that moving to Slack at some point soon.
