Overall Satisfaction with Miro

I use the free version of the whiteboard canvas for one-on-one tutoring and screen-sharing math solutions! I love how easy it is to access the platform, the simplicity of the user interface, and the ease of posting visuals from my device or a link! I love the interactivity of writing on an image or PDF and the ease of moving the object with the writing. I love being able to select strokes or parts or the entire creation to move or resize. Finally, I would love it if we could print a PDF file of all the work we create on the board at the end. I can save solutions and notes and email them to the student when we finish! The cons are that every time an image is uploaded, one or both collaborators must refresh the webpage. Sometimes, it comes out clear! Most of the time, a refresh is needed per upload. There aren't many other cons aside from this!! It would be nice to have different shapes or graphing tools, though they may be available in the paid version.

Pros

  • Simple easy user interface.
  • Easy image and pdf uploads from link or storage.
  • Easy share link and join for collaboration.
  • Lots of options in free version.

Cons

  • Buggy after every image upload where refresh is required for visibility.
  • Sometimes, a student will join with the share link, but I am unable to see that they have joined for collaboration. They cannot see any images, only writing on the board.
  • The straight line tool does not default as a straight line; its default is a curved arrow, which is somewhat of a hassle to change for every straight line created on linear functions.
  • Not many choices for shapes tools.
  • I would not have a part-time job without access to this free resource, as I cannot afford paid materials, and neither can the majority of my students. I can get paid between $20 and $50/hr for my contractual work using free Google apps and this virtual whiteboard.
Is there a way to create an audio call to connect with collaborators without having to use a separate platform or device to hear each other?
Easy easy, simple, though glitchy with images, love the shareability and printing pdf copy of final results
Miro is easy to use and collaborate on. Users can add objects, write, utilize many parts of the canvas, and click on user icons at the top to explore, except they cannot go back to their own space after. I can imagine that if the host calls all collaborators to view their space in a paid version, they cannot return to their own space on the board. The ease of accessing the whiteboard through a secondary app, like within a Google Meet call, had proven impossible as users cannot find or navigate to each other's work.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

Perfect for free one-on-one use. It is ideal for taking notes, writing solutions, and screen-sharing a canvas for demonstrations in the free version. The free version is unsuitable for large classes and collaboration for low-income, underserved schools or projects. Unsure about using individual whiteboards for more private interaction with students where teacher mode can view each student board, and all students can see and request permission to draw on the teacher board.
