Overall Satisfaction with Miro

As a software product manager, I use Miro daily for product discovery exercises (e.g., mind mapping, story mapping, etc.), delivery phasing, stakeholder input, and various Agile ceremonies to facilitate participation among our remote teams. We leverage Miro's template library for nearly all activities and frequently invite external stakeholders to help us fill in details for our key initiatives. Illustrating these concepts visually supplements our typical written documentation, and it often helps avoid confusion in even the most complex projects.

Pros

  • Template library.
  • Easy to invite/include participants.
  • Easy to secure/protect diagrams.
  • Simple interface for easy onboarding/adoption.

Cons

  • Creating and using private templates (for just my organization) is not intuitive.
  • Talktrack recording falls short of competing solutions (restricts to Miro exclusively).
  • I would like to see some sort of certification course/learning to help us track competency.
  • Asynchronous work has allowed us to reduce duplicative meetings to keep stakeholders aligned, saving many person-hours weekly.
  • Miro's level of access for unlicensed users saved us more than 10% on our previous solution for virtual whiteboarding.
  • We've reduced critical path planning meetings by 50% as we have a clear visual illustration.
We utilize the integration with Jira, making our story mapping and prioritization exercises much more accessible.
Our product and engineering organization is nearly fully remote, and we also include our contracted resources in Miro and occasionally invite customers/users to provide input on initiatives.
Miro's pricing, accessibility, and integrations stand out favorably.

Yes

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

Miro is firm with software discovery work, especially with remote teams and participants. I love the ease with which we can document certain Agile ceremonies (e.g., backlog grooming, story estimation, sprint planning, etc.) and illustrate our plans for phased delivery to stakeholders. We've also had success documenting early Alpha and Beta feedback. In my opinion, Miro is not the ideal solution for roadmap diagramming (we've tried it, and it requires more manual work to edit/shift things as priorities arise). More static documents (e.g., org charts) can easily be created and maintained in Miro, but Miro is probably overpowered for such exercises.
