Overall Satisfaction with Miro

Miro is the go-to whiteboarding tool across the organization's teams. Use cases range from analyzing user research findings and insights to facilitating collaborative workshops, visualizing UX workflows, and reviewing teams' work through screenshots and annotations on Miro. Many of my teammates, including myself, also use Miro as a journal or a workbook to log their work and learnings, gather resources, and track their work.

Pros

  • The infinite canvas that has no ends to the file; helps grow and branch thoughts and ideas without boundaries. It lets you visually observe the growth of a process.
  • Collaborative workshop sessions are seamless.
  • Searching for sticky notes is a boon and is super underrated.

Cons

  • Moving from FigJam and having experienced products like Butter, the "fun" part of celebrating experiences with Hi-5s and sounds is missing.
  • To expand on the last point, the whole phygital experience is missed.
  • Massively improved user research productivity and helped collaboration.
  • Has helped build routines and rituals by facilitating sharing and reviewing activities.
  • Being able to get a bird' s-eye view of work (literally) and see work in hindsight has helped reduce duplication of effort.
For my team, I was the flag-bearer for Miro. I'd used it in my previous organization, which helped the team move from FigJam to Miro. There were many 'functional' advantages, like being able to search the board for words, tagging, and filtering, but the team found it drab compared to the delightful experience they had on FigJam. This perception of dullness compared to FigJam was a big perception hurdle.
Miro is used from the very inception of an idea or a project all the way to the end. It's a great place to start assimilating work and getting all the stakeholders in alignment about their expectations from the project. Gathering knowns and unknowns and helping get the whole team's visibility into it also acts as a power piece.
I didn't get to choose Miro, but if I could, I would. JamBoard is not on the same level as FigJam or Miro. Between Miro and FigJam, FigJam is just more delightful to use and collaborate on—with or without an audio/video meeting. Being able to chat with collaborators from within the tool, jam with them, and celebrate with them truly brings a sense of apparent delight.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

I would really appreciate it if Miro could provide board template suggestions based on the kind of user-created boards in the past. I still can't get myself to use templates off the shelf without having to customize them a little. If Miro could have a component library to assemble templates, that could also help.
