Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Power Automate

There are multiple business problems that Power Automate addresses in my organisation. These range from using power automate to access data from older systems and process these into spreadsheets; and also link various activities on office 365 products to generate sharepoint lists and booking forms etc. The scope is to use Power Automate to automate laborious functions that would entail significant administrative effort otherwise.

Pros

  • Provide some pre-generated automated flows that require little tinkering to make functional for specific use cases
  • Using co-pilot to generate automated flows or explain some flows in more detail.
  • Allow for manual and automatic testing of flows to check for bugs.

Cons

  • I would really like to see a feature where blocks in power automate provide you with outputs of a flow if you provide an input (or examples of these)
  • At times the documentation can be quite limited with little to no help
  • Some smart recommendations as you are working on a flow would be nice. The copilot can be quite limited but hope this improves.
  • Integration across microsoft web-based services
  • Integration with power automate on desktop
  • Updating excel/sharepoitnlists based on forms/email rules
  • web scraping to acces and manipulate data on older systems.
  • I created a flow in approximately 5 hours, that would save ~10 hours of administrative work weekly
  • Built into office 365 for business, so immediate cost savings owing to integration benefits and administrator ease-of-access
  • Relieved demand on supporting staff
Slightly improved the experience - I used power automate before the implementation of copilot. Features that have been useful is to get the skeleton of a flow from a prompt - which copilot implements in the flow, saving considerable time finding specific functions/routines. Also, is useful for defining activities and giving feedback on certain routines. Does not always understand what is being asked/required.

Do you think Microsoft Power Automate delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Microsoft Power Automate's feature set?

Yes

Did Microsoft Power Automate live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Microsoft Power Automate go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Microsoft Power Automate again?

Yes

Power automate works well for pretty much all laborious tasks that require interaction between different microsoft services across their offering. There are some limitations - for example desktop access is better suited to power automate desktop - and integration is okay here. When dealing with sensitive datasets, power automate can access files/change/add/delete, so have to be careful. Although, has somewhat of a visual approach to coding, still requires understanding of programming aspects in order to improve functionality in many areas, so not recommended if users lack experience.
