Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service

Built on the open source Kubernetes, IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service provides an efficient container orchestration solution that helps to easily manage containerized workloads. The platform handles much of the three key features of the deployment complexity, including automation, capacity, and failure protection, as well as the rolling updates.

Pros

  • Identity and access management solutions, integrated into their infrastructure.
  • It also caters for the multiple cloud environments, otherwise known as a hybrid solution setting.
  • Another interesting feature is that it has seamless compatibility with other IBM cloud services such as databases and networking

Cons

  • User Interface Needs Improvement
  • Log Management Complexity
  • IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service is a very significant resource in terms of resource requirements
  • The automatic healing properties of the platform, have been helpful in minimizing incidents during production as traditional human errors prevalent with deployments are eliminated.
  • The dynamic scaling features that have really benefited have been to optimize the infrastructure's costs since resources are provided based on the capacity that is actually required and not the maximum.
  • Using containerization with IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service has helped streamline the processes of deployment and development and has allowed for the release of features more frequently.
The usefulness of the automated scaling is especially apparent, as it means that applications can increase or decrease their load as needed on their own. Further, the declarative manner of forming infrastructures makes the deployment processes the same and comprehensible, contributing to fewer cases of configuration drift and other issues frequently witnessed in different environments.
As much as this may seem hard to believe, it's true that the capability was not available until the advent of the IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service, which has made this achievable by providing the ability to deploy true microservice architecture.
I have earlier used various services, such as Kubernetes and Google Cloud Run. Still, IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service offers more convenience and a larger set of functions and features are available in Kubernetes. Google Cloud Run is much closer to a server less approach to deployment, although it gives slightly less flexibility in terms of configuration than IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service.

Do you think IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service's feature set?

Yes

Did IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service again?

Yes

IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service also stands out in environments where the workloads vary continuously and require befitting scale. The product excels particularly in microservices structures, wherein the companies would harness the capacity for container orchestration and automated scaling. Still, it may face the challenges due to monolith applications that have not been originally developed for using container technology.
