Overall Satisfaction with Avalara

We use Avalara to file and submit sales tax returns for multiple states as well as utilizing Avalara Exemption Management to store exemption certificates. The business problem that the product addresses was the sales tax nexus and making sure that we are paying state sales taxes in those states that we have nexus in.

Fairly simple for the integrations, just have been having issues/difficulties with making changes. Seems like we have been having problems with Avalara overriding NetSuite permissions. Haven't been able to fully integrate Shopify with NetSuite due to issues with Avalara overriding sales tax calculations.
The overall usability has been good, but we just have some problems/issues with the integration, especially with NetSuite. I believe that this should be a simple fix but having difficulty with getting our problems/issues addressed. I do like the Avalara homepage and it being easy to navigate to different pages when needed.

We have benefited from using both Avalara Returns and CertCapture. They both make it easy to manage and track tax returns and customer exemptions. Majority of our customers are exempted so having CertCapture manage our exemptions makes our lives much easier, especially when it comes to our customer who are either missing or have expired exemption certificates.
When I first started my position, we were already in the process of going into Avalara. I am unsure why our previous Controller selected Avalara, but I do believe it was because of the ease of use and aiding with determining nexus in states where we ship our products.

Avalara is well suited for us because it makes it easier for us to navigate sales tax and filing state sales tax returns for multiple states. I appreciate how simple they made this process for us, helps save us a great amount of time and allows us to focus on the business. Less appropriate, is that most of our customers are sales exempt and it can be a bit challenging at times with AvaTax overriding our tax calculation within NetSuite. Overall, that issue has been less and less, so we are moving in the right direction.

      Hi Celina, No worries, we actually have it all taken care of now, this was when we first implemented Avalara into NetSuite. We haven't ran into any additional problems thus far, even with the transition for AvaTax and Shopify. Thank you!
