Overall Satisfaction with AlphaSense

We are a Family Fund House focused on investing in US public equity. We use AlphaSense to analyze filings and gain insights from expert interviews. We also use it to track company press releases and news. More recently, we have connected Alphasense to our internal SharePoint to allow for more effective information retrieval.

Pros

  • Timeliness in falling.
  • Constant improvement in dashboard UI.
  • Ease of usage.

Cons

  • Provide a time indicator on the transcript so we can scroll to the relevant section of the recording.
  • Table merging remains poor.
  • Integrate events with Outlook.
  • Automatic table recognition for non-US fillings.
  • Match transcript to relevant company presentation.
  • The company's financials and estimates page is still lacking. This page should include other indicators like gross margin, OP margin, R&D Margin, etc.
  • Significant productivity gain.
  • Deeper analysis.
It has a very extensive library and a friendly UI, and it boosts my productivity. We have previously used ThirdBridge for expert presentations, but it is only a point solution rather than a full research platform like AlphaSense. Automated table recognition and sentimental analysis are also very useful.
It helps mainly with information retrieval. For news filtering, I would still prefer a newsletter from FT/WSJ/NYT.
One integrated platform. Modern user interface, unlike Bloomberg Terminal.

Using keyword search is suitable for analyzing company filings or understanding certain trends across multiple industries. It is less appropriate for ideas screening. The "Financial & Estimates" page also lacks fundamental indicators like gross margin, OP margin, etc.
