Pluralsight way exceeded my expectations

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am working on creating a enterprise level web application. My last work doing this was 7+ years ago so I have to learn a lot of new technology and for the technology that is still in use today, get a refresher and learn what has changed.

I have found the Pluralsight courses perfect on both counts. They are really well crafted providing the details needed with good sample programs - that actually work (something other sites often fail at). And the instructors are top notch.

Pros

  • Clearly teach you the technology
  • Move at a good speed
  • Make it interesting (some of the instructors excel at this)

Most Important Features

  • Their classes are up to date - teaching the latest version
  • They've got a class for every thing I've needed to learn (so far)

Return on Investment

  • I'd estimate it's a 6x increase in getting up to speed on new technology

Best Value Price!

Pros

  • Translated to almost all languages.
  • Offline and mobile downloads.
  • Up-to-date courses.

Cons

  • More ways to search/browse. You can't filter/sort on ratings, etc.
  • Help center is still missing some of my questions.
  • Chatting support at least as premium user!
  • Cannot share into LinkedIn, only share post!

Return on Investment

  • Self-development technically.
  • Supports organizational goals.
  • Helps in decision making.
  • Guides team more accurately toward vision.

Sharpen your technology skills with Pluralsight

Pros

  • Pluralsight has hundreds of authors that are constantly producing new content, which is valuable for the tech industry that is constantly moving at a brisk pace.
  • Many content authors are respected leaders in the topic they're presenting. You are able to trust that their content is thorough and authentic.
  • Niche expert-level topics are presented in a curated video format which is difficult to find anywhere else.

Cons

  • Pluralsight has improved the standards of their video format and audio quality, however, there are still many courses that exist before these improved standards.
  • Most topics don't include a procedure to verify your understanding of the content, such as with brief comprehension quiz after a section.
  • There are tons of topics that are covered, but it's still possible to search for a topic that is not covered at all.

Return on Investment

  • Through my use of Pluralsight, I have significantly increased my salary as well as the value I am able to provide to my employer.
  • Pluralsight has been my top source of information used to study for Microsoft certification exams.
  • By consuming Pluralsight content both with specific intent as well as casual/passive viewing, I have been able to bring ideas to our company that has transformed the way we do things.

The Power of Pluralsight

Pros

  • Variety - Pluralsight is not short when it comes to the variety of courses they offer. If you fall under any of the large umbrellas like Creative Design, Web Development, or IT Security/Systems; then they have a course for you.
  • Quality - What seperates Pluralsight from other e-learning platforms is the exceptional quality of the platform. From the amazing UI/UX design the platform has to its courses often taught by leading professionals, Pluralsight outranks all competition.
  • Courses - I know I slightly touched on this topic, but their is more needed to be said about the courses offered. Just as I mentioned the great variety, they also do not lack in quantity of courses offered per category. Additionally, all courses are rated 1-5 stars by previous students as well as written reviews.

Cons

  • Difficult to Address - Yes, that is my con. I simply do not have a con I could address that is worth noting for potential buyers of this product.

Return on Investment

  • Pluralsight presents a positive ROI for our business, but to put a monetary value on knowledge and individual has gained is conditional and speculative. But an annual subscription just shy of $300 for the amount of material you may access, I can say with great confidence that the skills sets acquired by using their platform will guarantee a positive return. Not only for your business, but for the career and future of your employees.
