We have Mimecast Email Security CI deployed to protect our emails against advanced threats and phishing activities within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. From impersonation attacks to ransomware and URL scanning, this tool ensures our emails are threat-free, preventing data compromise or loss. In addition to early detection of email threats, the tool also offers auto-remediation, making it even better.

Pros

It effectively integrates with Microsoft 365 for the best email security.
It comes with AI-powered email threat detection. It easily identifies anomalies and block threats on time, thereby protecting our email data.
It effortlessly scans URLs and attachments. It blocks harmful attachments and URLs before we click them, further protecting us.
It comes with internal email scanning capabilities. This effectively prevents the spread of malware and phishing attempts.

Cons

Sometimes this tool lags and is greatly affected by latency.
We have experienced filtering issues whereby we regularly get false positives.

Mimecast Email Security Cloud Integrated is used as our email security package. Stopping unwanted spam and viruses from entering the business via email. It also protects us from spoofing and identity fraud. We use the learning and link based warnings to educate staff and keep our business safe. It’s also used to monitor our outgoing mail.

We use Mimecast Advanced Email Security as our principal email gateway and it filters all mail and ensures only the mail with the highest levels of spam confidence get through. Spam and malicious emails remain and existential threat to all businesses and Mimecast Advanced Email Security has proven to be the most effective tool at the perimeter for shield us against email threats.

As with all mail filters Mimecast Advanced Email Security is not infallible
Better mobile app to allow mail to be released when away from the office

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We're using Mimecast Advanced Email Security as a secury E-mail Relay within our environment. It's protecting us by scanning all E-mails before they will be received on any of our E-mail servers. It's scanning on (potential) virussen, but also on Spam, Possible Phishing Emails and Email senders on blacklists. We're even let it check for SPF/DKIM/DMARC settings from the senders Domain. This has limited the amount of potential dangerous e-mails enormous!

Use a very easy setup with f.e. White/Blacklisting

Cons

A full integration with Microsofts O365 so users can more easily report potential threads and clear false positives
Be able to use message tracking more to dig into the E-mail to see why it's been marked as Spam / Phishing (with still keeping in mind all privacy rules)
Automate integrations with other tools like Sentinel One, Rapid7 etc.
