  • Create emails.
  • Build lists.
  • Responsive email.
  • Tell you if your email will be flagged for spam.
Cons
  • The reporting features could be more robust and provide better reports. Items such as being able to see who forwarded an email, duration of email viewed and an overlay of the clicks on the actual email.
  • The price point could be lower or comparable to other EMS providers.
  • Neither, It was used to send out member communications.
The reporting features and cost aren't on par with some other providers out there that have very robust reporting and good price points for bulk emails.
Ask for pricing for bulk emails, social emails, easy to configure and build lists

We send out member communications about what's going on within the association. We typically sent out two emails a week talking about telecommunication issues that were in the FCC that week or about a broadband topic from our technology expert on telecommunications. Occasionally we would send out emails to the CEOs of the member companies with items we got passed on Capitol Hill.

Somebody with a technical background
  • Member engagement
  • Member communication
  • Send out our yearly holiday card.
  • We are currently migrating out of BH to use a new platform that has more robust analytics. In the past we utilized BH for small email blasts and Xert for our large email database because of the cost. We are in the process of migrating to Informz because the cost is a lot lower with them compared to BH and Xert.
No
  • Xert
When BH was chosen, we still used Xert to send out our marketing emails because of the sheer size of the list and the volume of emails we had.

I was not part of the decision making team to choose BH.
I wasn't part of the team to choose BH.
  • Don't know
  • From talking to those that implemented it, there were no issues encountered.
I wasn't part of the implementation of BH.
Every time I emailed support I almost instantly got a response with an answer.
No
I was having issues with various items and it turned out to be an issue with the server and some items BH didn't seem to be aware of the issues. They fixed them very quickly for me as I found them.
  • Creating emails.
  • Uploading lists.
  • Creating new segments.
  • Creating templates.

Easy to use.

  • The user interface is easy to use.
  • It wasn't too complicated.
  • Finding what we needed was usually pretty easy.
Cons
  • Segmentation for lists that we imported could have been organized better
  • We did not have any template designs for emails
  • Increased engagement since we sent a lot of emails.
  • We could target certain audiences and test which was a huge plus.
I loved the support that we had with BlueHornet. They were very good at returning our calls and walking us through things. The development was always there to help if we needed. I miss that a lot!
It was simpler than Exact Target, didn't offer as many bells and whistles but if you don't even need those, then it's way easier to use. And has great customer service for help

There was a marketing manager, and some field managers that also used the product. They just didn't know it as indepth as I did.

Segmentation understanding and data analysis
  • Newsletter.
  • Segmenting out groups by status.
  • Data.
  • Used it to house more data.
  • We didn't clean out the data very well.
  • Dynamic imagery.
  • We needed to segment out and have more if/than emails and have dynamic content.
  • Needed to clean out information.
  • Sending dynamic newsletters.
Not Sure
The price and the support
  • Price
  • Product Features
Price was the highest and we wanted something that was popular
I would make sure that what Blue Hornet could offer was what we needed.
  • Implemented in-house
  • Training people to use it.
I wasn't there when they first got it, but when I got there there were only a few people that knew a little bit about it. There was A LOT that we didn't know. Then BlueHornet came and had some workshops and we learned a lot that we didn't even know existed. They were doing a lot of things wrong before BlueHornet came and showed up more about the tool.
Sometimes it was hard to get an initial response but after we started CCing more people, it became a lot better!
When we needed to start doing dynamic text/pictures they walked us through exactly how to do it and set up examples so we could learn. It was also amazing when they would come in house and visit and give us workshops and teach us more about the product.
  • Uploading segments.
  • setting up an email to send.
  • Dynamic text/images was confusing at some points.
Once you start using the product a lot and are taught how it works, it's pretty simple. You just need that initial training and to use it a lot to get used to it.
