KnowBe4 PhishER/PhishER Plus

I only have two Systems Administrators for district-wide initiatives. Cybersecurity defense is a very small part of their job but a large responsibility. KnowBe4 PhishER has allowed us the ability to have a major impact with minimal effort.

Scanning the documents and URL which took time has been a good saving for us however as said before this is now no longer a completed function and manual tasks are now needed, which take time as the TotalVirus subscription only allows limited numbers on manual scans.

It prevents us from having it investigate and report training emails and centralizes actual threat in a central location where we can take action. Also blocking threats before it happens with blocking email domain lists is grate as well. Filling in words here so this thing does not complain any more about length.

The KnowBe4 PhishER is saving our lot of time and resources by making the email reporting process very easy. Initially the users were reporting the email by forwarding it to the IT security team and that was not a good process as many user are not aware of the exact security team. Then after reporting, it was getting difficult for us to collect all reported emails and placing them in a one place and then analyze them.
With the KnowBe4 PhishER, we have resolved this problem by making the reporting process very easy, just by clicking on the phish alert button and the email will be reported to the KnowBe4 PhishER inbox and then it is very easy for security team to analyze those emails at one place.
With the help of inbuilt AI and third party tool integration like VirusTotal and Crowdstrick, the analysis process has reduced more and taking very less time and resource.

The bulk of time saved for us has been the staff interaction with the Phish Alert button which integrates seamlessly in to Outlook. We have all the information in the platform that we need for further investigation and there is also the integration with Virustotal to check URLs and attachments which saves us running in circles with the users to attempt to investigate issues.

We currently leverage the KnowBe4 PhishER/PhishER and its ability to cut down on incident response noise by identifying and managing messages that actually are threats and those that are classified as spam, safe, or neutral. This allows security teams to focus on real threats, thus improving response time.

PhishER has been unique about time savings. Typically, we would have users forward suspicious emails to our ticketing system, and then we would do our best to analyze them without full headers or any of the other cool things that PhishER makes incredibly easy. Also, we have had really good luck with automatic categorization, which leaves us completely hands-off for the majority of reported emails.

We're able to have potential phishing emails go to a centralized dashboard. There, they can sit while we assign a rating and the possibility of a phishing attempt. This saves our organization time and energy so we can focus on the critical side of business. We're also able to let users know whether or not the email was an actual phishing attempt and reward them for being attentive. This increases their diligence.

It has saved a lot of time in terms of reporting emails from our user side and from the security team perspective as well. We got a centralized dashboard where we can see all reported emails instead of looking for reported emails in the outlook. With the AI feature of KnowBe4 PhishER, it is helping to categories the reported emails as users are not that much educated to differentiate the exact clean and phishing email.

By having a centralized resourse in PhishER we are able to save money on this protection. Otherwise, we would be paying multiple companies for multiple threat prevention resources. PhishER allows up to use one resource for all of our Phishing protection needs and in the end saves the company time and money.

KnowBe4 PhishER saves our staff time because it only opens an incident ticket for messages found to be malicious or inconclusive. Messages found to be clean or harmless spam are reported back to the end-user as such without interrupting IT.

With our own filters we can effectively reduce the time spent to user reported messages with about 40%. For the other messages, the built-in analysis tools ensure that classification takes less time than before. Also the dashboard function helps to see which tasks need to be worked on and which are finished already.

When a user reports a suspicious email to PhishER, it saves time for that user who no longer has to contact IT or take their best guess at whether it's a threat. The added benefit of PhishER is if the message is not a threat, it is returned to the user. Using the built-in "Report SPAM" doesn't allow for that, and messages end up lost.

Even the 25% or less amount of emails we have to manual review are quicker because KnowBe4 PhishER has already done the preliminary scan and provides the percentages of probability in each category, clean, spam and threat.

Auto resolving spam and clean emails help us prioritize and streamline our response to valid phishing emails. This frees up our team for blocking real threats and investigating emails that might be in other email boxes.

As my team gets more used to using the PAB, they are less likely to reach out to me specifically to ask about security issues or phishing emails. Users are able to report issues without taking time to write a message, and can trust that if I need to see it I will.
