We use Cakemail for marketing emails that we send to our customers and prospects. With this software we are able to easily create emails from their provided templates (without needing knowledge of coding) and manage our contacts and lists through each of the campaigns that we run. Cakemail is used for newsletters, new product highlights, and other marketing emails.

I have used many other email marketing softwares. If you are looking for email and form capture information and not a full CRM, Cakemail, Mailchimp and Act-On are great solutions. They are great for smaller marketing teams and allow you to easily build and send out emails for a reasonable price. They also usually integrate with other tools like a CRM.

If you have a larger team that is able to use all of the capabilities of a tool like HubSpot or Pardot, those tools are also amazing. But, they have a much higher price point and many small teams fail to use them to their full potential because they don't have the time to do everything in those softwares.

Cakemail is a great service for putting together email campaigns on the fly. We can pull from a number of templates that cakemail provides without having to worry about coding/developing – we have a small digital department and those guys are always busy – so it helps with workflow and deadlines.
Pros
  • Managing my contacts and campaigns has given me fantastic results and has been really easy through Cakemail's interface.
  • Customer support is amazing – if you have a problem with anything, they're always available to help.
  • Their flexible design tools are very easy to manage – there's really no learning curve which is nice.
Cons
  • An external package – like PHP support – Cake's component doesn't have that.
  • I'd like to be able to view my user click rate and click frequency at the same time, to be able to compare it – they don't offer that.
  • There's always room for improvement – but what Cakemail does well, it does very, very well.
Likelihood to Recommend
If you're managing a large email campaign, with 500+ subscribers, Cakemail is a wonderful service that can help anyone, with any level of experience – get their message out there. It has a useful interface, stimulates solid workflow, and cuts down on all the time and development that goes into coding an email campaign. Basically any level of email campaign, Cakemail is great for that.
Return on Investment
  • Cakemail has given us a pretty positive response rate...we're always open to trying new technologies, but Cakemail has shown our subscriber clicks rise quite frequently in the last few campaigns we've sent out.

I use MailChimp a lot, and to be honest, both are great programs. Should you go with either of these, you will not be disappointed. I'm just a little biased because I just started using Cakemail, and I fell in love with the program. It's really solid and they're always updating it.
