EvolutionX vs. Magento Open Source

Customers love having their own online account that shows their current pricing on items. We love this too, as when you put in the specific markup they receive on each item, the price will automatically change for them. All we need to worry about is updating our costs then. The big bugaboo for me is the fact that we cannot simply copy a SKU. Being a PPE supplier there are thousands of items that are similar (ex: glasses just with a different lens color), where being able to copy and edit what you need would be ideal. There are so many items we'd like to add to our site at times, but we think about the time that it would require and sometimes we do not follow through with adding because of this issue

It's well suited for large eCommerce stores as it requires much effort to set up and the development cost for setting it up is high. It's less appropriate to use Magento where you are looking for quick development and launch of the store. Also, it is required to have a developer or sometimes the entire tech team to manage an e-commerce store, so you may need to hire a few PHP developers.

• It would be great that there are more themes that people can choose from.
• Even thought there are lots of training videos I would like to see even more especially on some advanced features and capabilities.

It's the dominant force in the SMB open source market. With the continued support of eBay/PayPal, Magento will continue to evolve and should be a market leader for some time.

It is easy to use and as they have been updating their platform, it has gotten even much more easier to utilize and navigate.

Evolution X feels better built specifically for our industry and helps to provide relevant supplier catalogues, it also opens us up to dialogue with new suppliers and partnerships to form around this. For instance our ACCO account has grown by x8 since we started adding their catalogue by Fusion Data via EVOX. PrestaShop is all added by spreadsheet and there is no pre-populated catalogue ready to add which means it relies on our in-house capabilities or the supplier to provide feeds to import which not many of them have

In looking at a different platform to migrate to from Magento 1, we looked primarily at Big Commerce, Shopify and Shopify Plus. Our host was very negative about Magento 2, but we determined after a couple years it was due to the fact it had even more complexity (and very different) than Magento 1. Shopify Plus was attractive, but the cost factor for two sites led us back to Magento 2.

• We've saved tons of time with creating customer's accounts to automatically display their marked up priced on items. (no longer need to physically update some of these individual's quote forms)
• This website is much more up to date and user friendly than our previous platform
