SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere (DRE)
Chose SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere (DRE)
TeamViewer has better screen sizing - but the connection is not as good. SolarWinds definitely feels more secure and gives me an environment that I feel is more functionally pleasing.
Chose SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere (DRE)
Its integration with Samanage and cost were the key deciding factors over TeamViewer (which can be VERY expensive despite how easy and nice it is to use) and it's just far more functional and less limited than VNC or RDP or Chrome Remote Desktop options or even the screen share …
Chose SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere (DRE)
Dameware DRE is a powerhouse tool that in my opinion blows these other products out of the water. Each of these competitors offer great services but at a cost as they require multiple subscriptions or a pay to upgrade to the latest version (TeamViewer). DRE is a simple "one …
Chose SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere (DRE)
Much better product than above. Screen control is more comprehensive, better connectivity through reboots.
Chose SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere (DRE)
overall, we have been loyal to Solarwinds Dameware in the past, so moving to Dameware Remote Everywhere w=once it became more mature was a no-brainer.
Chose SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere (DRE)
DRE is in a league of its own.
TeamViewer
Chose TeamViewer
TeamViewer stands good among the one which we reviewed in market. Easy to use from customer end and cost bearable as well.
Chose TeamViewer
TeamViewer is easier to use and has a cleaner, more efficient support portal for tech teams. The custom install package allows for silent installs with the setup configuration we need.
Chose TeamViewer
TeamViewer is fully featured while other tools (Dameware) have more options but can be a more involved configuration. In comparison to Remote Utilities, the import features are just about the same for bulk import of active directory or CSV files. I feel TeamViewer stacks up …
Chose TeamViewer
All platforms and products are similar and each have their strengths and weaknesses so it is hard to generalize given that everyone's needs are different, but TeamViewer has proven to us to be not only versatile, easy to deploy and have a small foot print but also very secure …
Chose TeamViewer
TeamViewer licensing is easier to navigate.
Chose TeamViewer
Nelipak had a pre-existing relationship with TeamViewer, so it was a no-brainer. I also use TeamViewer in my personal IT consulting practice exclusively. AnyDesk is a close second; it's founded by former TeamViewer folks, so that isn't surprising. My current job uses Dameware …

I think for ANY environment it's worth taking it out for a test drive. It's very powerful, especially when using the agent to connect to sessions where the end user doesn't need admin rights but when not in a VDI environment it likely would perform better with its built in functionality to ask for elevation. It is really powerful, even with the ability to run command line scripts without the user seeing (kind of a built in psexec) and it does work with Mac and Linux to some degree too so it really is worth trying out regardless of your environment. It may be just what you're looking for and the sales folks at DRE are not pushy at all, at least in my experience, and give great advice even at the expense of selling less licenses!

TeamViewer
I think it works well for IT management and help desk support of end users. I find it very useful to help users and send files to their desktop. Remote Workers still run into some problems with MFA and updates, both to the TV Host app and OS updates. However, it does give us secure direct access without the need of a VPN.

SolarWinds
  • Remote control is solid, rarely loses connection
  • Allows for control of the desktop prior to login
  • Allows for scripts to be executed in the background without disturbing users
  • Allows for batch rollout of scripts across multiple machines
  • Allows us to see the end users' desktop - as opposed to RDP

Cons
Apache
  • We have experienced some stability problems (mostly Tomcat related).
  • The interface could be a little more user-friendly.
  • Certain keyboard shortcuts used by Guacamole GUI are impossible to use in the Firefox browser in out-of-the-box configuration.

SolarWinds
  • Connectivity to a helpdesk/knowledgebase would be nice feature so users can do self-help
  • Offering a branded version of the client/agent would be a nice touch for businesses
  • A web-only version of the technician console for remote support would be a nice feature

TeamViewer
  • With an iPad, you can't take control of the device, so you have to tell someone what to do. Which can be a challenge because the end user doesn't know what to do
  • With the free version of TeamViewer you cant enter Admin credentials because TeamViewer blocks the windows to fill in the credentials
  • The free version can be really limited which can be putting off people because they don't see the full potential of TeamViewer

We need this tool in our day to day business. It is what we do all day remoting into clients devices. In this day and age we can access devices all over the world as long as we have secure internet connection. It certainly saves money in gas, and even if you are away you can help.

SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere is an easy to use software package. The manuals are easy to understand, and the installation is simple and straightforward. The Maintenance and support costs are relatively reasonable, and we maintain support and maintenance strictly for the upgrades rather than support. the few times i have had to contact teamviewer support, they were very responsive and give me quick answers and seemed to understand my problems quickly and easily. I did not have to sit on the phone for hours on hold or get passed around to multiple phone support techs before finding a solution to my issues, so i would rate their support very highly.

As expected without any problem! Alternate in-person training is another efficient way to learn how a product works. There are many third party supporters for TeamViewer courses available that can give additional ideas how to use TeamViewer for specific functions and features as we did require in respect of our usage.

I have never used the online training either. I have watched a few informational videos that were helpful when learning how to do a specific procedure within TeamViewer and get the most out of the software by utilizing one of the many features that are available with the software. Again, 5 if for neutral.

TeamViewer installation and deployment to other devices is pretty straightforward and does not require much technical know-how. This makes ease of use attractive when supporting both new and existing clients with limited technical knowledge. I think ease of use is a huge factor in getting new clients. TeamViewer handles that extremely well.

We basically selected this for our one of the SolarWinds Project. In that we needed to take remote session and screensharing and do the analysis and troubleshooting. In our initial analysis itself we got the excellent result, and it was too quick. We were very much inspired from this. Later on, we started using SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere (DRE) for almost all the projects of SolarWinds. Highly appreciated, thanks team.

TeamViewer's cost is much lower than that of other solutions, and its security is far superior to RemotePC's. TeamViewer is also a request-based remote session manager, unlike other software that allows indefinite connection time. TeamViewer's free version makes it even better for one end of the group to find support, while the other end has the paid version.
