Overall Satisfaction with Yubico YubiKeys

I have my Yubico YubiKeys on my key chain and with me at all times. It is my primary form of 2 factor. As the IT administrator, my accounts have a high risk, and can cause a lot of problems if they are compromised. Yubico YubiKeys are an easy and reliable way to make sure my accounts are secure, and secure the systems of our Business.

Pros

  • 2FA codes
  • Apps for all Platforms, as I use Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android
  • They have multiple hardware configurations if you want USB A, USB C NFC, etc.

Cons

  • I kind of wish there was a USB A and C in one Model with NFC
  • Configuration software can be a bit confusing
  • 2FA on important accounts
  • Very Durable
  • Relatively easy to use
  • Reducing risk of critical IT administrator accounts
I have only used Yubico YubiKeys on the IT related accounts so far. Those accounts have the highest level permissions, so I figured they should be the first ones. Any account that has high levels of permissions really should have 2 factor authentication, and Yubico YubiKeys makes it easier and safer than e-mail or sms 2FA
Only I have been using the Yubico YubiKeys so far, and it has been great. It adds a little bit of time to logging into different services, but it really does make the accounts more secure. Even if someone had the password to an account, they can't get in unless they also have my physical Yubico YubiKeys somehow as well.
Yubico YubiKeys are the only product of it's type I have tried. I have been following Yubico YubiKeys since they were first created, and always really liked their product. I have one of the first Yubico YubiKeys on my keychain for many years now, and it still works perfectly. Something that can last that long, and keep working, doesn't need to be replaced!

Yubico YubiKeys are a great way to setup 2FA for lots of sites. I use them for our most important accounts, and will probably start using them for other users in our company who have high risk accounts, such as accounting, and HR. It can add a level of complexity that not all users are comfortable with, so I plan to only use them on accounts which really need the extra security.
