Overall Satisfaction with Turbonomic, an IBM Company
We use Turbonomic to help monitor the health and efficiency our virtual environment and make informed resource allocation decisions. Resource strain and availability is greatly enhanced with the use of Turbonomic. The product is used primarily by our IT team but the reporting is shared across the organization as a whole.
Pros
- Visually shows the health of my virtual environment
- Easy to set automation within the environment
- Ease of use and familiarity
Cons
- Training sessions involve a marketing feel at the beginning
- The Supply and Demand tab is not only confusing but does not really apply to our infrastructure
- The Supply Chain tab is also a bit confusing and just looks nice
- Increased load balancing capabilities
- Made monitoring my environment easy
- Automation has allowed the environment to utilize the available resources much more efficiently
We used to use Dell's Foglight solution. It was not reliable and had many issues keeping up with the changes within my virtual environment. Turbonomic not only keeps up with the changes but preemptively adjusts and makes changes on its own to alleviate resource strain. Definitely the best option we saw during our 'shopping around' phase for a solution.

Turbonomic has really help us understand our environment at a deeper level than ever before. It has allowed us to pivot and make necessary changes to our applications and also save costs by leveraging the capacity reporting features built within. Since we have been able to properly manage our storage and applications we have been able to procure newer equipment and services for large scale projects.
Turbonomic has helped us be more productive with what we have in our environment. The software has allowed us to focus our efforts on areas that we did not necessarily realize we should focus on. For instance, we have multiple applications using large amounts of storage even though the applications had been deprecated for over 12 months.
Turbonomic helped us use our money more efficiently. This means that we were able to purchase certain equipment sooner rather than later for a large scale project and application deployment.

10 - The following users leverage Turbonomic to valuable insights into our various virtual environments: IT management, IT administrators, IT Engineers, IT Procurement. These users' roles vary from purchasing net new IT hardware/services, renewing licensing, ensuring system health is optimal, providing capacity forecasting, designing new solutions and validating that pre-existing solutions are meeting the requirements of the business.
3 - The skills required to maintain Turbonomic is quite minimal overall. If you are able to read and have a general level of IT knowledge, you can certainly support and maintain this software product. The occasional upgrade and learning new features is very feasible for most entry level technicians. We have 3 administrators of Turbonomic who assist is setting up reports, maintain software updates, and address any issues that may come up for the users.

- We are looking into the newer Cloud integrations

My sales rep and I were on a 'catch up' call, and he noticed I was down level in my Turbo version... He immediately got someone scheduled to help me upgrade my software version at a time that was convenient for me. I was a little surprised honestly.
