Overall Satisfaction with TIBCO Data Virtualization
TDV is used in our organization to create master data views used by a host of downstream applications as a common source of the data stream. TDV is helpful in the sense that we can create a common master view by combining different consumer views sourced from a wide variety of data sources.
Pros
- Master data views from disparate data sources.
- Integration with Cloud technologies.
- Compatibility with target systems such as Business Objects, Spotfire etc.
Cons
- Improve the web manager console to better manage users /groups/ monitor logs etc.
- Reduction in data errors as we have a master source of truth defined in TDV.
- Downstream applications are able to connect to and source true data from TDV.
- Forms the data hub for the majority of orgs.
We do have data hosted on-prem and in the cloud. Using TDV, we are able to connect and source data from these sources without any issues. Their documentation is pretty straightforward and to the point. It not only helped us create virtual master views but also integrated them with other apps.
We evaluated Informatica and Boomi but stuck with TDV because of our relationship with them. We started with Composite, then CDV (Cisco Data Virtualization), and not using TDV.
