Overall Satisfaction with TIBCO Cloud Integration (including BusinessWorks and Scribe)

BusinessWorks is being implemented to manage the flow of transactions for multiple lines of business and providers to the proper back-end system for processing. This implementation is in conjunction with several other TIBCO products including BusinessConnect, Managed File Transfer, and Partner Express and a wide variety of TIBCO service plug-ins.

Pros

  • BusinessWorks was easily extended to take on additional lines of business.
  • The interface for designing the BusinessWorks workflows is clear and intuitive.
  • Both upstream (BusinessWorks) and downstream (Foresight) integrations are functioning as designed.

Cons

  • Not just BusinessWorks, but much of the "TIBCO Stack" seems to have a lot of complexity in terms of add-ins, plug-ins, etc., each of which requires attention with regards to configuration, updates, support, etc.
  • The TIBCO support culture appears very silo-ed. Experts are available for particular products, but questions about product interactions often require engagement of both specialist teams.
  • Unfortunately, in our specific context, the implementation of a very complex TIBCO solution (which includes BusinessWorks) has taken much longer than originally expected. I don't think the issue has been with the BusinessWorks elements, but more with BusinessConnect and its related plug-ins.
  • As mentioned earlier, it was very simple to extend the BusinessWorks configuration to take on an additional line of business.
  • BusinessWorks allowed us to remove a piece of proprietary technology from our workflow, saving significant (10's of 10000's of dollars) annually in license fees for that product.
Another team within our company is undertaking several proof-of-concept projects with Del Boomi. With BusinessWorks our team was able to complete a particular POC in about 4 weeks which the Boomi team was unable to complete in 3 months.
As long as you can clearly identify the steps required in your operation(s) and can articulate the data validations, transformations, and movement then accomplishing them with BusinessWorks is pretty straightforward.

Dear TrustRadius, It's not good to complain/comment against a tool, that we could not able to resolve the problem even after spending 3 months. The author is saying it's his/her first project. How do you take a person the first experience with one tool is the good and other tool is Bad? I have worked on 15+ middleware tools in last 12 years. We have migrated projects from the earlier version to TIBCO, Oracle Fusion, MuleSoft and Dell Boomi. All tools have pros and cons. I believe the statement claiming a tool bad or good is not correct. I recommend you to publish the use case. Many community members are open to taking forward with implementation. TIBCO, OFM, MuleSoft and Dell Boomi are the preferred middleware tools and can provide any solution. Licensing cost and flexibility to implement and manage differs. One should see what is the implementation methodologies did they implement Webservices (SOAP/REST)/Micro Services/API? Where did they deploy On-Prem or Cloud? B2B or Business Analytics? -Vijay
