Overall Satisfaction with TeamViewer

I develop online tools for our business processes. We review these tools in the beta stage with our offices in multiple locations. It is extremely helpful to be able to give presentations as well as remote into other computers with this one application. We have used many different types of online meeting software and we like it as much if not more than Webex or GoToMeeting for its features and cost.

Pros

  • First of all, TeamViewer has a free trial version you can use to fully evaluate the program before purchasing an upgrade license. Quite frankly the free program is very feature rich and some users will not even require a full license.
  • It is my preferred solution for remoting into other computers. I can remote into my office computer or home computer from anywhere with access to all of my resources as if I was physically in front of the computer. It connects fast and the connection is reliable. File transfer is a simple drag and drop from machine to machine.
  • It is also excellent for online presentations. I can schedule meetings, configure conference calls and send all relevant information to my participants in advance. The sharing and desktop controls are great, you can designate all or part of a screen or active window to show.
  • You can record your sessions and the program stores all of your connections for meetings and remote control sessions.
  • You can have a simple video call or regular phone call and it also has chat just in case you don't have enough instant message capability.

Cons

  • Cost is definitely a factor. Monthly subscription rates are fairly high. The single to multiple user discount is not very substantial.
  • Sometimes the file transfer will not work between remote controlled desktops. You can try and drag the file over but it won't copy for some reason.
  • If you use the free version enough you will get a warning that you have to sign up for a business license. I have found this to not be warranted on a personal installation but it was still triggered on my home machine.
  • I was able to get away with the free version for quite some time before business usage was detected. After that the cost is more than we would like to pay but the features make it worth it in the long run.
  • Really there is no negative impact at this time. TeamViewer saves us time and money being able to remotely service our many office locations without leaving the corporate office.
We've looked into other similar products but prefer TeamViewer. The features and ease of use balances out the cost over the competitive products.
I work for the IT department of my company. We constantly have to log onto our employees and authorized representatives machines to assist them and/or to install updates, etc. TeamViewer is excellent for this as there is no additional license costs for remoting into countless machines and have lots of connections.
