Firm wide data management, with a recent purchase or Polaris to enhance security.

Pros

  • Recovery.
  • Integration with VCenter.

Cons

  • Consistency with Support Technicians.
  • Not given the user manual each time there is a question or issue with a paid product.
  • After hours support emailing off hours.
  • Great recovery profiling and execution.
  • Lack of assistance when things go wrong.
  • First vendor product that was more or less hands-off. Once paid, you are on your own to figure out what your product does.
Rubrik replaced netback up a much more static and archaic data backup system. Rubrik did improve our environment, and as a person who inherited the role of data management, there were some learning curves. In some cases for a new user, there are so many bells and whistles the interface can be overwhelming or vague in functionality.

We just implemented Rubrik Polaris for our team and so far there are no issues. If there was any critique it would be that the entire experience was more or less hands-off and a bit cryptic. To expand on that, we received the link, a means to log in but that was it. No explanation of the features, no quick-start session. While there are user guides to go thru in my years of setting up new programs, add-on, etc. they usually have a high-level overview. Right now Polaris sits on our system next to Rubrik and to be honest not really sure what it is doing or what we should be paying attention to. In true Rubrik fashion, I request further assistance and am given a user manual that no one has time to review. So that was a little disappointing but as I mentioned that has been my experience with Rubrik overall.
