Overall Satisfaction with QuickBooks Desktop Premier

We no longer used except for Historical information and Audits.

Pros

  • Easy to make adjustments to transactions
  • Integration with 3rd party Payable program
  • Easily to tie back to aging reports

Cons

  • Cost Allocation
  • integration to payroll programs
  • better audit trails
  • Customized reports for Project Directors
  • Audit information easily accessible
  • There is still much manual work with 3rd party programs
We switched to a more "robust" software program with the hiring of a new CFO. The migration of historical data and ancillary information has been cumbersome and riddle with errors and issues. In hindsight much of what the new software program was touted to accomplish is not come to fruition. QB Desktop Premier was sufficient for the organization needs.
We actually switched with the hiring of a new Chief financial officer to Sage Intacct. We are significantly behind with prior year audits and regulatory reporting and still used QuickBooks Premier for those reasons. In hindsight we should have done more research with QuickBooks premier if in fact it could have been configured or customized to our needs before switching.

Yes

Auditors typically ask for Aging reports. This has almost been pitched perfect when tying back to the Balance Sheet. Also, very easy when mistakes are made to easily "delete" or edit a transaction. However, this does not leave a very "sound" audit trial if someone needs to understand the history of the transaction.
