Push through implementation. It's worth it for a great product.
Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
We use HR & Payroll, Time & Labor, Onboarding, Community and Employee Navigator. This is our first experience outsourcing payroll. We previously used in-house software for payroll, and a separate web service for time & labor. Onboarding was all done on paper. Switching to Paylocity meant bringing onboarding, time & labor and payroll all into one cohesive software, eliminating the need for data transfer between systems. And outsourcing means saving a lot of time in the accounting department.
Pros
- Employee Navigator Integration
- HSA Integration
- GL setup
Cons
- There were some frustrations with implementation. Things that weren't done correctly, so then had to be redone. I can understand one mistake, but this happened with several different things.
- Vacation setup should have been simple, but it wasn't. The problem boiled down to the implementation consultant not having the proper knowledge of how to set it up and also the implementation consultant not responding promptly and closing our implementation before vacation accruals were functioning properly. After weeks of requesting corrections we went back to our Paylocity sales contact. He responded promptly and connected us with someone who actually had proper knowledge of vacation accrual setup. He was able to solve the problem quickly and easily, and also noticed a few other things with our setup that could use improvement and helped us with those things as well.
- There is not an attendance points system.
- We need multi-level approval for time off requests and time cards.
- We were processing payroll internally before Paylocity so this has been a major time savings for our accountant.
- Paylocity's pre-built reports are much better than our previous payroll system. Very few custom reports were needed. And it's so much faster and easier to obtain valuable information.
- It's great to have onboarding flow right into payroll. Our HR Manager spends a lot less time on data entry now.
Payroll processing is so much faster now!
We haven't used Surveys yet, but I know we will. We do an annual employee survey. It was always on paper before, so this will be so much better. We don't use Premium Video. We're using Community to push notification out to employees, but aren't encouraging additional use of Community. We're concerned it will be used in negative ways.
We were previously using DELMIAWorks (ERP). They informed us the payroll module would be sunsetted soon. It was a relief to have an excuse to make a change. The DelimiaWorks payroll module was not user-friendly. It did not fit our needs. Workarounds and manual data entry were still needed. We looked at Great Plains, but it didn't make sense to get another ERP, just for payroll. So we decided it was time to outsource payroll. We looked at Paychex, Paylocity and ADP. Paychex didn't meet our requirements and didn't get good reviews from our 3rd party providers. Paylocity and ADP were pretty closely matched. ADP actually quoted a little lower, but we liked Paylocity's timeclock solution better.
