Overall Satisfaction with Parallels Remote Application Server
Our entire organization uses Parallels Remote Application Server. We use it to share our LOB and to provide centralized IT administrative tools. We are a highly distributed organization that needed a way to centralize our applications for our users. We can centrally administer and update our software. The functionality to provide specific applications to security groups is essential for making our uses of Parallels Remote Application Server a success.
Pros
- Sharing applications only with no loopholes to getting to the desktop
- Simplified admin of published applications that scales into the hundreds of applications
- An architecture that supports multiple sites with the same admin console
- Script management and monitoring of the infrastructure
Cons
- Handling site setting replication between high latency sites
- High availability is available but requires a proprietary appliance
- Greater ability to do our work which would be more expensive with other products
We have used the application from RDS extensively over many years. Never used VDI.
We are aware of this feature and have it enabled. Not many people use it as we have used the Parallels Client instead for so many years.
Not used Parallels Remote Application Server in conjunction with hyper-converged infrastructure.
We can use Parallels Remote Application Server with legacy operating systems and are evaluating using Parallels Remote Application Server with SAML authentication against Office 365. This is a critical feature in the coming years as single-factor authentication no longer is secure enough.
