Overall Satisfaction with Oracle BPM Suite

Oracle BPM is being used to evaluate expediting the existing processes of describing and programming modifications and enhancements to our Oracle system by modeling the processes instead. Currently only the Human Resources Information Systems department is using Oracle BPM, both because it's being evaluated and because only a few people have received training and know how to use it. However, if the pilot is successful, BPM is expected to be more widely used in the future.

Pros

  • Oracle BPM is particularly strong at drawing and modeling business processes with drag-and-drop tools

Cons

  • It's a very complex piece of software and documentation is poor. Examples and explanations appear to be non-existent.
  • We've been able to successfully model and implement a process to automate the flow of documents and signatures required to justify the movements of positions, a process that had become increasingly complex, requiring ten signatures in a specific order depending on various conditions. The solution will save us at least one full-time employee and a still unknown but significant amount of time, as well as drastically reducing the potential for error.
Oracle BPM is the first and only product of its kind that we have used. I am, unfortunately, not able to compare it to any similar product.
In my experience, Oracle BPM Suite is better suited for larger, more complex projects in which a visual model is intuitively easier to grasp than a document containing, for example, multiple levels of conditional processing. It's especially well-suited for projects in which process time and labor costs need to be calculated and justified.

    It is good for existing assets on Oracle Stack or SOA Suite,but nowadays one can easily make the process cases or accelerators using Microservices+Containers stack with a solid middleware. But its relevant still for very large 10000 Feet process view. But the dwan of Serverless is a new chapter and time will tell whether BPM can be relevnant in CloudNative+Serveless era as a Service.?? Had worked with Oracle SOA Suite BPM for last 15yrs and have exp on Java Ecosystem Spring Boot Dockers Kubernetes OpenShift,AI NLP. Hence urge is to make the layers unvisible and unbinding to Logic thats where we are moving to Servless less like OpenWhisk..but there are some issues and not battle tested yet. Whereas SOA+Cloud+BPM is battle tested for large enterprise grade not for typical green mill projects or integrationworks.
