Overall Satisfaction with Optimizely Content Management System
We use Optimizely Content Management System to manage the front end of our website. It allows a large amount of more complex features to be possible and enables a quick way to update the site with relative ease. The program itself, although complex in places, once you are used to it, it is built rather logically, making it easier to find your way around.
Pros
- Creating new pages and blocks are is simple to do
- The layout of how the system works is logical and easy to understand
- Uploading documents before running jobs is easy to do
Cons
- It seems to be quite difficult to be developed for new features
- There seem to be some issues when trying to update just the front end data without doing a full catalogue import to over-write it
- It allows us to have a functional ecommerce site
- It enables us to have a variety of journey types at to be checked out
- There is a lot of reliance on spreadsheets and running jobs, with less automation than I would like
We also use Optimizely Content Management System experiments to do our A/B testing which provides useful metrics and analytics that really help us to understand what changes will actually help to improve conversion and the overall customer journey. This is mostly then fairly easy to replicate into the main CMS based upon the experiment results.
It useful to be able to use the products together, the interfaces of them are fairly similar, which certainly helps to keep a familiar look and feel across the platforms. The logic is also very similar which has the same benefit, in that it is consistent across the products.
The implementation process for us took a little longer, and overran by around 6 months, but this was done alongside a large back end data re-platform too so this was not purely down to Optimizely Content Management System. Ultimately the platform change did enable us to have more flexibility and to create more content in quicker succession.
- Adobe Commerce (Magento Commerce)
We found we have more freedom with creating content and updating content was easier as we were able to build blocks and pages much quicker and easier than we were previously able to.
