We use Okta as our main authentication store for most all of our applications, both internal an external.

We have used Okta on most all of our applications across all of the public clouds.

I haven't had the need to work with the support team much, or the education services. Okta is pretty straightforward when managing it. When I've reached out to support, they've been quick to respond and assist the issues we were facing.

Reliability

Okta has been great. We've only noticed one issue that was a global scale outage. I'm pretty sure that had to do with a telecom hack, not even Okta. Outside of that, we haven't had any issues with Okta.

Alternatives Considered

Cisco Duo

I'd say that Okta handles authentication more efficiently than Duo. It covers more applications and is easier to manage.

Okta is well-suited for those who need an agile authentication store for applications both on-prem and in the cloud. Okta still would work, but would be less appropriate for an organization that is entirely on-prem that need an authentication store local to the business.
