Overall Satisfaction with N-able N-central
We use N-able N-central to monitor our Windows servers in multiple data centers spanning Azure and 2 on premise data centers. We monitor things such as network connectivity, resource usage, and running services. We also use it to deploy Windows updates across the servers every month.
Pros
- Easy to deploy
- Easy to push agents to the servers
- Has a plethora of features
Cons
- Very convoluted patch management
- Sometimes the agents seem to stop working and have to be restarted/reinstalled
- Feels like it tries to do to many things so doesn't really excel in any one thing
- Ability to schedule and push monthly Windows patches
- Ability to alarm on various server criteria
- Scalability
- Gives us a single pane of glass for monitoring and patch management
- We seem to spend a lot of time troubleshooting strange issues with the product
- Setup of scheduled Windows patching is very convoluted compared to other products
- SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (npm)
Our version of SolarWinds was old and running on old hardware, but it was way easier to setup and do things with. It did not do everything N-able does such as patch management, or at least we didn't have a module to do so if one existed. However it definitely seemed easier to use and possibly more stable.
