Overall Satisfaction with Mimecast Advanced Email Security

The university where I am employed has been a Mimecast Advanced Email Security client for the last 4 years and we've seen a lot of improvements from them. Their technology is constantly innovative with only the best cybersecurity and IT practices in mind. The technology from Mimecast Advanced Email Security is user friendly for our faculty and staff on campus. It works well behind the scenes to deter cybercriminals. The Mimecast Advanced Email Security suite of management reports helps us run the business, technology and processes at the university.

Pros

  • Keeps the end users aware of what emails are safe, not safe or questionable.
  • Their technology is constantly updated to keep the bad actors at bay.
  • Mimecast Advanced Email Security is always seeking ways to improve, e.g. buying other firms or similar products.

Cons

  • It could be working more behind the scenes (proactive not reactive)
  • Their support staff is not consistent when we (IT Team) need guidance
  • Their management reports need to be reviewed and updated
  • We had to have Mimecast Advanced Email Security for compliance reasons
  • We want to use Mimecast Advanced Email Security better, and are in the process of a new proof of concept since they have acquired tech firms.
  • Financially, it does not break the bank
This rating indicates that it works well and can be improved. Our end users at the university never complain to me about Mimecast Advanced Email Security running in the background, and seem to like most of the product's features. We have decided to renew Mimecast Advanced Email Security technology in 2025. While I do not administer it, I have a Network Administrator on my IT team who does that. He does not complain about Mimecast Advanced Email Security.
It has been positive.
It is less expensive and so forth. We also looked at Proofpoint.

It is well-suited for most colleges and universities, plus worldwide firms. Looking back, it was not the smoothest project in IT to install it 4-5 years ago. The project took too long and was cumbersome. On the other hand, our account management team is very professional and knowledgeable. I plan to renew Mimecast Advanced Email Security when it comes due later in 2025.
