Overall Satisfaction with Linode
We use Linode as an organization to deploy our web content. This includes a website, G Suite applications, and internally managed applications that support teachers and students in our organization. Our website is our main content managed through Linode, but the advantage to a flexible VPS like Linode is the ability to easily add and adjust content whenever it is convenient.
Pros
- Easy to use Dashboard with readily accessible information.
- Strong support team that responds quickly to any and all issues.
- Versatile platform that can cater to the needs of any company.
Cons
- Steep learning curve for new users.
- Complex set of options that take time to understand.
- Some platform updates need explaining when first released.
- Ease of sharing content with the world.
- Fiscal savings (we only pay for the modest VPS costs).
- Far less time to manage the resources we have at our disposal.
I don't have extensive experience with VPS services, but I steered away from Amazon and toward Linode specifically because the latter was easier to use. Amazon offered a lot of flexibility, but it was geared to meet the needs of experienced developers. Linode's package deals make it easy for a beginner to learn to manage a server.
The services we can manage through Linode would cost our small organization 4 to 10 times what we currently pay if we were unable to deploy them on our own VPS. Linode has helped our bottom line, increased the flexibility of what we can offer, and saved us so much time and energy.
I have never had trouble with Linode's reliability, and that is important to our organization. Being an educational institution means our resources need to be available for teachers, students, and families around the clock, and I'm proud to say that Linode has never failed us in that goal. We find that more valuable than anything.

Evaluating Linode and Competitors
- Price
- Product Features
- Product Usability
- Product Reputation
The simplicity of the price combined with the features made the biggest difference in choosing Linode.
I would not in fact--I looked at a few other services, but Linode offered the one that was most straightforward and affordable.
Linode Implementation
- Implemented in-house
Change management was minimal - We didn't focus on change management at all.
- Learning the system for the first time
- Navigating new features
Linode Support
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Quick Resolution Good followup Knowledgeable team Problems get solved Kept well informed No escalation required Immediate help available Support understands my problem Support cares about my success Quick Initial Response | None |
I didn't need premium support, and the regular support is so excellent that I don't need anything beyond what is provided.
I was struggling to access my Linode through SSH and submitted a support ticket. Even though the problem eventually had nothing to do with Linode itself (I was just being an idiot), the support staff was both kind and incredibly helpful. They worked with me throughout the entire process to make sure I eventually got into my Linode.
