Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It allows us to connect to multiple clouds in and out of our network, useful as we have public and private clouds as well as on-premise network equipment. This includes public clouds such as AWS or Azure but also our own locally hosted servers. IBM Hybrid Cloud Mesh helps to reduce complexity in managing these services.

Alternatives Considered

Azure Arc

You can also use a product already in the Azure environment, Microsoft Azure Arc. This also allows hybrid cloud management, with focus on security, compliance and connecting data services. This was less relevant for us being not users of Azure.

It is well suited for organizations that have a need to combine the cloud environments of various sources, whether public or private. If you do not require connectivity between different cloud networks, then obviously this is not a service for you. It also helps having AI enhancing cloud security, for example with threat detection or monitoring.
