Overall Satisfaction with IBM Apptio

We use Datalink to pull data from Target Process and several other systems. We then transform that data in TBM Studio and push it out via Datalink to our reporting servers and several other systems for their consumption.

Pros

  • Parses inbound data cleanly, without the need for special filters
  • Excellent set of functions in TBM Studio
  • Allows the integration of REST/SFTP data transfer without the need for scripting

Cons

  • Builds could be faster.
  • Datalink needs to work with the/ have its own Sandbox environment.
  • It would be great to have an iterator in a datalink that allows it to run for X number of loops and incrementing a "start at" value. This reduces the need to have multiple datalinks to call 1 url several times in order to get all the paged data.
  • Reports could be prettier.
  • I has made system integration a lot easier for non programmers
We use data ingestion and transformation for generating data for reporting.
We have bi-weekly meetings with post support and things seem to work well, answers to questions come back in 24 hours at most.
  • Targetprocess
The bilateral integration is wonderful, Targetprocess can read Studio and vice-versa. We are finding that the open configuration of Targetprocess, is allowing us to use it to replace several disparate form filling systems.

Do you think IBM Apptio delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with IBM Apptio's feature set?

Yes

Did IBM Apptio live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of IBM Apptio go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy IBM Apptio again?

Yes

I only work with the Finance team, for which it is well suited. If you treat it like a DB, it can do a lot of similar things. However, that being said, it is not a relational database.
