Use Cases and Deployment Scope

GoGuardian Teacher is being used district-wide to help monitor what students are viewing and doing on their Chromebooks and tablets. It is much easier to use than what our district used in the past because the software is cloud-based and can be monitored from any device as long as it is logged in to the correct person.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Cloud-based. Teachers do not have to monitor from just one device - they can do it from any device.
GoGuardian allows teachers to lock a student's screen when he/she needs the students attention.
GoGuardian allows the teacher to view all students' devices simultaneously.

Cons

Difficulty with syncing some students into the system. De-bug that software glitch.
Add on-to the scheduling by implementing a calendar so there is not unnecessary tracking during breaks/days off of school.

Return on Investment

District invested a large sum into the program - but it has increased student engagement in the district.
Teachers are more aware of how on-task students are in the classroom.
Teachers are able to track sessions with the ease of scheduling before-hand.

Alternatives Considered

Lenovo LanSchool

LanSchool had the same idea as GoGuardian but it was not cloud-based. This meant that LanSchool was unable to be used on multiple devices because it only tracked the data from one desktop device. This made it more difficult for teachers to monitor students because they had to use one specific device to track student's device data.

Likelihood to Recommend

GoGuardian allows teachers to track and monitor student's devices in the classroom. Additionally, the teacher can have more than one classroom split into its own category instead of a pool of students. Finally, the teacher can set up scheduling so GoGuardian automatically saves the data from that specified tracking period.

GoGuardian would do even better if they added a calendar to the scheduling.
